Low speed moan in front end!

2121 Views 13 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Pepst
I've got a low speed moan in the front end when I touch the brakes, especially when I an turning and using brakes. I pulled into a fast food drive thru and the poor guy working the window ducked when I pulled around the corner :jester: It seems to be worse after a long drive. I am leaning towards brakes, but it could be bearings since it is cyclic and worse when turning. Any ideas before I go to the stealership? I like having ideas before I listen to their BS :)

Thanks!

Im having the same exact problem as you described...I'm curious as to what it could be.
I mentioned in an earlier post that I had the same problem. I took it to the dealer and after the regular b/s that they cant duplicate the problem, I told them to drive on the freeway for about 15 minutes (which I could guarantee it would do it after) and they heard the moan coming off the freeway. So they ended up resurfacing the rotors and replacing all my pads. Their answer was that the rotors were glazed which was causing the moan..So far, problem is gone. Hope it's that easy for everyone else.

But what is causing the rotors to glaze? Will they not just do it again? And why does it seem to do this after longer drives? Sounds more like a band-aid to me. Mine hasn't done it in a while, so I'm sure it will reappear after my next long trip.
Good question...I dont know. Well, I'v only got 10K miles and they just scratched up my truck in the process, so they're going to be doing a lot more warranty work for me in the future to make up for it :)
