Magnaflow muffler question

I recently bought the 22" Magnaflow 5x11.....Looks great, I decided to look at the inside and was surprised by what I saw. I thought they were 1 pipe all the way throught he muffler, with little holes along the inside wall....Well mine is a single in, then splits to 2 "pathways" inside that are on both sides of the inlet outlet. Basically t looks like the air goes in, then takes 2 sperate pipes, then exits out from a single outlet. Its probably good for sound, but I'm disappointed, I want performance and I don't like the fact that the air comes into the muffler and has to split apart and take 2 seperate pathways....Is that what all you other guys Magnaflow mufflers are like inside?

That is the built in X pipe....... Performance for sure!!!! You will like it. I am running my own X pipe infront of Dual 14" Maggys and the Butt dyno feels a HUGE difference over the H pipe I had on there before. Enjoy!!! BTW....One drawback is the CIS (card in spoke) sound that you get at WOT revs..... Other than that THE MUFFLER FOR THESE TRUCKS!!!!!!

Later

My 14"ers are straight thru...........

Yeah I confirmed with Toomnymods that this is the same muffler he has an ran 12's, so I should be good. I actually got this muffler to clean up the sound of my raspy/poppy exhaust....Toomnymods (who replaced his JBA muffler for this exact muffler) said that it sounds amazing. The 22" apparently has the least amount of CIS sound..We shall see. Friggin thing is huge and heavy LOL

dude the maggy 14" is where its at ;). haha jk it would probably be insanely loud with your setup!

That is called a split core design. It is mainly to help control sound levels more vs the standard core mufflers by directing the sound more into the packing material. It will not hurt performance at all and should have a very deep, mellow tone to it.

I doubt it will sound anywhere near OEM with my set-up, or I will send oyu $100 LOL.....I'm willing to live with it because my exhaust sounds so crappy right now, that I need something to smooth it out. The fact that Toomny used it and runs 12's, and Toughtitan says its good (along with a few others) makes me feel a little better about it...these guys know more about exhaust then I do....Its just something I'll have to live with (the possibility of a small restriction) in order to have it sound decent, otherwise its like running straight pipes

Mine is like a straight through, and I thought I had the 18??? Of course, I got it 5.5 yrs ago.....maybe they changed it?

I've been running the Magnaflow for 4 years now. I love it. I just did a shift kit(while having the tranny rebuilt) and the Bully Dog Triple Dog GT, what a freakin different. I feel sorry for mustangs now. That Bully Dog on extreme will smoke the living ish out of those 37's.

Oh, and did I mention how good the Magnaflow sounds....

got my 22" welded on today. Sounds awesome. Its quieter, but still has plenty of growl. Sounded much quieter on start-up, but when I got on it, it got louder. Its a much smoother/cleaner sound, I am very happy with it

Wait until it breaks in. Takes about 1-2 weeks for it to finish up. That is the sound it will have until you decide to change it up again or get rid of the truck.....lol. Congrats BTW.

It's official, this muffler rocks! Drone is cut down by 1/2. I did the ultimate test LOL, I got on it next to big wall, and is sounded deep and smooth, no CIS sound that I could hear...I'm 100% happy with this thing. Truck felt like it pulled harder, but we all know how the butt dyno is LOL

Hi O-FiveCC!

I'm glad everything worked out and you're enjoying the sound!!! The internal split won't effect performance at all, it's still straight through. It will and as you now know control the tone quality much better!!!!

Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions!!! We appreciate your business and have a great day!

Kind regards,

I would say about mid level loud. You have to understand, my exhaust has been loud for a while, so this is a welcome change. It's a good mix of hearing the motor and the exhaust, its a low growl, but its their just cleaner. About 60-70% as loud as my last exhaust. When I'm cruising at 50-55MPH, I can barely even hear it

Yeah i know, I ran in a -700 DA last year and it was 50...This Funday Sunday, the high is going to be 50, and we start running at 10am, so we will be running while it is in the 40's. They said they will be open Sunday, so lets hope so, so I can get a 13.7 before I start adding my mods on

It's a combination of the muffler being larger (more area for sound dissipation) and the internal split allowing more area for the sound to be controlled. The 22" is 5x11" and the 18" is 5x8". We've had great luck with this muffler on the Titan. Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions.

Kind regards,
