I would check with the installer unless you put them on yourself. I have the exact same setup on an 07 Titan and have had no problems like what you described. Mine has done great. Sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with it.
i had it installed at a great shop i have used for years, also mine is 2.5 dual in 2.5 single out and i noticed you have a dual out set up maybe that makes a difference.
I have the 18'' magnaflow on my 05 and it sounds great. Of course mine is a single in single out. I haven't heard of any complaints about ther sound of magnaflow. Maybe you got a dud. Hope you are able to get it sounding like you want.
I have an 07 with the 18" magnaflow dual in single out. I have the exact same problem you are describing. I went to a shop I have used for 20 plus years. The truck sounds great at idle and great when I rev it in park, but when I'm wot in gear it sounds like a baseball card in the spokes of a bicycle. I was wondering if a different tip would help. Also my exhaust exits out the side like the factory did. Maybe I should have exit straight out the back.
I have an 07 with a 18'' dual 2.5 in and single 2.5 out, same set up same problem. I cut my tailpipe off at the last hanger right at the rear axel to get rid of the in cab drone. What a diff, worked great but still sounds like sht at high rpm just like you guys are describing. That cracking noise remindes me of a little tuner car. I would like to know if the flowmasters make the same sound. Or how about the magnaflow three chamber mufflers. The guy at magnaflow told me they were louder than the ones with the straight through design because the walls are not insulated. This increases noise level.
check extensively for exhaust leaks.. leaks caused my flowmaster (see my vids in my sig) to leak... they sound good in the video, but once i developed a leak, it sounded like bull hockey at high rpm
ok, then maybe too small diameter muffler... im no exhaust flow expert, but i have found read that whenn exhaust gases reach a certain speed (from too small a diameter tube) they make a popping sound
Sounds like the engine is "knocking" or "pinging" when you romp on it? That would be a loose baffle in the muffler. Mine didn't go until after 6 months or so, then it sounded like crap. Especially around 2,500 RPM.
i have the same problem. i originally put true dual 40 series flows, then dual in single out magnaflow, now i have dual in, dual out spintech. they all sounded great until wot in gear. i hate watching someone else drive off in my truck cause then you can really hear how bad it sounds. all my friends talk sh*t too. its hard trying to get the chevy flowmaster sound out of a nissan. if anybody has any ideas please post them up cause ill try it. ive already gone through three different setups what else do i have to lose.
18" magnaflow on the stock 08 pipe system and no sound like that. Mine has a deep growl all the way through the power band. Added a larger diameter tip last weekend and I swear that it turned up the volume on the sound a bit.

Very happy with the magnaflow.

I agree with your findings. My 05 2.5" SI/SO 12256 Mag sounded fine at WOT. The JBA has a clicking type sound at WOT.

Try an Xpipe from Dr Gas, they will make them custom to your specs.
You need a crosspipe

If you don't like the sound, then you need what we used to call a crosspipe, up close to the engine. This sound used to be prized by us old hotrodders, we used to try to build exhaust systems for it at low engine RPM to really make the exhaust bark. Sounded great in town with it echoing off the buildings... At least until you got a ticket for excess noise.

You'll get that sound for sure with duals and no crossover pipe. It's caused by the exhaust pulses coming from one side, then the other as the engine exhausts from one bank, then the other. A crossover will smooth out the sound.

Some have reported that if you cut the end of your tail pipe back a foot and a half that will take care of it.
Wow, I thought it was just me hearing that crap as well. I have the Stillen Catback single exhaust exiting out of the side. I thought it was a leak as well when I first heard it, but as motioned earlier it kinda reminded me of the sound Old School Hot Rods make.

Its a love hate thing, I kinda got use to it but at first I was pissed b/c I thought it was a leak. Hope you guys work it out.
I think there are alot of people out there whos trucks sound like this and they don't even realize it. when I am in the truck it sounds great until I put down the rear sliding window. If the rear window is shut the truck sounds great wether the other windows are up or down. You have to have the rear window down or be outside the truck while someone else is driving off to hear it.
My settup (JBA catback enhanced with Flow70) still makes the pop-ping sound at WOT too, I assumed it was the big displacement engine. My target sound I was hoping for was the Mustang 5.0 with Flowmaster. I am close, but still have the annoying pop-ping under full throttle. With single 3" all the way, how could one put inline a cross pipe?

Cut off the tailpie just afer last hanger to reduce / eliminate the 2500 Rpm drone.
