Has anyone ever looked into put a standard transmission in place of the automatic. Is there anything that would even fit since Nissan has never mated one to a 5.6 motor?

Obviously the clutch pedal would be the next challenge, but if it could be done I would enjoy the truck even more.

even an manual auto shift without the clutch would be fun. a short throw shift 6 speed would be very cool though.

they claim that our tranny is the same as the 350z and alot of others so I would assume that the 350z 6 speed would fit but the gears would have to be beefed up and ratios set differently.

This can't be true. Tranny would either be not enough for the Titan or too heavy for the Z.

I have the manual shift without the clutch on the '08 with bench. It has the little shift up/down button on the column shifter. It does add a bit more fun to the driving but still not as much fun as having a real clutch.

There is a guy on the drift circuit that mated a Titan VK56 to his 350Z 6 speed in his drift spec Z. So I would assume it is possible, physically. But the electronics involved would make it a nightmare!

yeah, that was also gonna be my answer.. hadn't thought of the electrical interface at all though..

Hopefully with the VK56 Team being put together things like this will be more available in the future.

Oh my I can't imagine the computer work that would need to be done. He must've had an inside track at Nissan to get that done. I mean, it's something else to switch trannies on my '69 chevy...

The car is driven by Chris Forsberg and run by Drift Alliance.

They had to use a stand alone AEM engine management system due to the electrical complexities and due a Q45 throttle body. They still had to cut a hole in the hood for clearance.

It can be found in the December 2006 issue of super street.

Specs for the engine:
JWT cams
680cc bosch injectors
aeromotive fuel pressure regulator
Walbro fuel pump
Q45 throttle body
magnaflow exhaust
JBA headers
GM LS1 ignition coils
shortened aluminum oil pan
custom motor and trans mounts

Drivetrain specs:
Nissan 6 speed tranny
driveshaft shop axles
cusco LSD
LS automotive custom shift lever
Exedy twin disc clutch
and a custom adapter plate

Our tranny is also in a KIA! Sorento. Infinty QX5, QX45 IIRC.

Can we use LS1 Igniotion Coils? Should we? Interesting list, I need to get a copy oif that Mag. Library anyone?

... with my 06 SE w/ Capt. chair option, I have the center column shifter, but no button to push... Once out of Park, I have full movement of the shifter, up and down through the gears... I took the OEM knob off, chopped the shift rod down an inch n half, and put on a chrome/carbon fiber weave knob on it (my own short shifter mod)... I often control the gears while driving around town, mostly through 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, and whenever I decelerate, I like to shift down as well... minus the clutch keeping my left foot busy, I enjoy this clutchless shifting... and I noticed that if I accidentally downshift into the redline of the lower gear, the tranny won't downshift until the engine gets to the 6k RPM range, helping to protect itself a bit from human error...

This sux! It’s bad enough that we share a transmission with Z but it really sux that the Sorento has the same transmission. I’ll never look at my Titan the same way again.
