My '07 just passed 155,000 miles. I have used Mobil 1 (and Mobil 1 filters) since the very first oil change and am thinking of changing to Mobil 1 High Mileage next time. Thoughts, pro or con?

By the way, my mechanic said the inside of the engine looked brand new when he had it apart recently to change the valve timing solenoids.

If the inside looks new, and you're not burning any, I'm not sure I'd go changing what's working fine. Mobil 1 is good oil, for sure, and I suspect you'd be fine to keep using the regular stuff. I'm not even sure what the "high mileage" stuff (from any manufacturer, not just Mobil) has that's different, though, so perhaps some of the other guys can chime in and offer better intel. I'm firmly in the "if it ain't broke" camp, myself, though.

For my last oil change, I purchased/used the Mobil 1 Extended Mileage oil, which is rated for 15k. With it, I also purchased the Mobil 1 Extended Life Oil Filter. Currently, I have 8k on the oil change. As a rule of thumb, I check my oil level and all the other fluids under the hood every other tank of gas. So far, I am more than pleased with the performance of this oil. The last visual inspection showed little to no signs of any discoloration of the oil at all. Even though the oil is rated for 15K, I am gonna drain/fill it at 10k with another round of the Extended Life, at which point I will let it go the full 15k.

I believe the high mileage oil (oil designed for engines with high mileage vice Extended Mileage oil which is designed to last longer than regular oil) manufacturers claim to have seal conditioners in the oil that help keep seals from becoming hard or brittle which is usually the source of oil leaks and seepage in older engines. They also claim to have higher levels of detergents to clean out miles and miles of gunk buildup. It would be hard to prove, but seems to be believable. I've read a couple places that using high mileage oil in low mileage engines help keep the seals soft, so I use it every third oil change. Costs a couple bucks more, but gives me a warm fuzzy.....

If it's not broken don't try and fix it.
BTW, this is in the 2016 section
