I installed back up lights and spliced them into the trailer harness.

Black to ground and red to yellow with red stripe. Nothing. Maybe i didn’t splice them right (technique wise).

Any help very appreciated!

And now, out of nowhere, my stock back up lights quit working. Blown fuse?

Possible. If you're using the blue/red wire taps those are not good, especially with exterior applications. A weatherproof butt connector or soldering is preferred. Easiest thing to do is fix the fuse then test voltage at the wires when the truck's in reverse. Either have someone help or put the parking brake on along with chocking the wheels. If all else fails you can tap into each reverse light wire behind the tail light.

I tried tapping into the taillights as well but did t get anything. It was also after trying that that the factory reverse lights went out.

Perhaps tapping into them blew the fuse?

I hate wiring with a passion.

Okay it was a blown fuse.

Now when I tap the new lights into the taillight harness, it immediately blows a fuse.
