As the title says....

Here are pictures of my <2 yr old NFab Nerf Steps. Very disappointing to say the least. I got tired of looking at all the rust so I just took them off. Not sure what to do next? Repowdercoat? Paint? Buy new steps? Open to all suggestions. Not wanting to spend alot of money as I already have over $500 tied up in these POS's when I bought them back in June 2005.

An Entire Gallery of pictures

A couple of the worst...

WOW! OMG! Did you email some of those pics to N-Fab customer service? Maybe you can get some replacements. Those are toast. If you decide that you still want to keep them (even though the strength could be compromised) you could cover them up by getting them powdercoated. I got an estimate for powdercoating my Go Rhino Dominator II steps for only $100 form a reputable powdercoating place here in San Diego.
that's really bad. it's like a bad paint job but powdercoat.

Not bad if you're into the Mad Max look.
Thanks, you brought a smile to my face!!!!
Hmmmm... So this is what I have to look forward to, huh? Goody.....
mine look brand new still, but they dont salt the roads in Alaska. You just drive on snow/ice all winter.

I assume they salt the roads in PA? If not, I would be sending em back for warranty.
For that to happen, the powdercoating preparation was done improperly-contaminated mostly.

Strip it.

POR-15 to convert any residue

Take them to a truck bed spray on liner company and have them coat those...better grip, bulletproof, looks good!
man those are rusted pretty bad. have line-x applied to them! on a budget, get the roll on bedliners at the autoparts store or walmart.
Well after only one phone call and one email with pictures, it looks like I will be getting a new set of steps sent to me within a week!!!! That's what I call customer service! Will keep you up to date/post pics of the new ones when they arrive.

Forgot to add this:

When I was un-installing the ones I have, one of the studs used to mount the steps broke off. You know, the one that sticks out of the body. If I get a bolt and cut the head off of it, then weld it onto the part that is remaining on the body, will that work? Should I try something else? Will post a pic of that later tonight.
Here's a picture, there was no turning it out with vice grips. Not sure that I want to try drilling it either. Does anyone know for sure if it is just a stud that is threaded in there, or is it welded in??? I was just going to weld a bolt to it and try cranking it out and inserting a new stud, but if it's welded in, I guess I'll have to cut a bolt and weld it on so it's long enough to hang the step onto.

Will be taking some pictures of my second set of N-Fab's later this evening. Starting to look very similar to the first set, after 2 years installed.

Man that sucks! I've had mine for almost two years, and there isnt a spec of rust..............granted there is never a reason to salt the roads here on the Gulf Coast.
Good to hear they stand behind their product!

That suks bro'.. Maybe you could save those by the good suggestions posted. So how did you handle the bolt?

Bolt/Stud..... Just left it that way, only three bolts securing that side vs. four

The warranty is based on original date of purchase, which was back in May 2005. They're not gonna cover them.

I may just DupliColor Bed Spray them.
i read somewhere that if you pee on them, they won't rust....
I have been looking for a set for my truck to put some Hurculiner on. I have some N-Fabs on my wifes hummer h3 than I hurculined. Looks pretty good.

Are you interested in selling them? How close to Mercersburg PA are you?
