I never had a problem with a police officer out in town but the Military police decided to get busy today and give fix it tickets on base for no mud flaps.

Unfortunately there is not way around it and I need fix it...

According to the California Vehicle code 27600:
"thereto afford adequate protection to effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle and all such equipment or such body or attachments thereto shall be at least as wide as the tire tread"

Does that mean that I only need rear mud flaps?

What are my options?

I've seen this, but too much $$$:

maybe this, but fugly :(

please help!

fuk them. if it was just for that day, then don't put any on at all. the ticket probably costs less than the mudflaps. ignore this if you're trying to get the ticket dismissed.

F the MP's. I say get the mud flaps. You know they'll pull you over again for it and maybe cost you one month's base pay.

I'd just make some type of easily removable type flap that mounts similar to those first ones linked above (ProFlaps). That way you can take them on/off as you see fit.

As your truck did not come with them as standard option, I would not see why they could make you add said option. I would fight it.

On base statutes can be stricter than regular on road ones. .

You are assuming his truck is stock now aren't you?

If the wheels/tires extend beyond the fenders then mud flaps are required equipment.

You a have a one time out....Trade wheels & tires with someone whose set-up doesn't stick out to pass the corrective inspection, but after that you could still get another tick after switching back tires...

Well, not assuming, just know that mud guards were not standard equipment on most Titans produced. Not to say his didn't originally come with them, but chances are good that it didn't. And being that his wheels and tires are after market.....

Well, thank God us dumb Kentuckians don't have laws like that!!

I wouldn't mess with the MP's, they'll be keeping an eye out for you for awhile and Enlisted pay isn't enough to keep throwing away on silly little fines like that. Personally, I would just get the DuraFlaps posted above or one of these:

Or these and trim with a Dremel if need be. It shouldn't be much different than the Armada guys who have installed QX56 Mud Flaps.

I wish I can F the MPs, but I go through the base gates every day and they know the trucks...

Do I only need rear mud flaps? Or the cvc requires all 4, front and back?

I may be getting some cheap plastic carpets and trim them as needed to make them look like mud guards...

Stock mud flaps will not work because my tires stick out, the MP was clear and said that the mud flap has to be as wide (or wider) than the tire.

Most cops think they are above the law....Thats why there is a loophole in the whole Cell phone law comin up...only emergency vehicle drivers can talk on their cell phones..not us. I have a few friends that are in law enforcement, and they do the same things we do..but they have a badge so its ok.
