I don't know the answers to your questions, but I will say the pipe on the 2017 comes into the muffler as two individual pipes and comes out as one single pipe (dual 2.25" to single 3" I believe) so replacing it with straight pipe would either mean some type of y or collector. Or doing all the pipe muffler back as duals

I don't know about the newer engines, but on my first gen I had cutouts before my muffler on both pipes. Lost a little low end, nothing major. Droned like crazy though. Also caused me to run slightly lean.

Really curious how the new engine sounds with alterations to the exhaust. On my 06 it sounded awful with a straight pipe. I wasted a lot of money playing with different systems. Although in the end I ended up finding the almost perfect set up in the end.

Yeah I would imagine the old engine sounds similar to the new one so there really is no cheap way to make it sound good unless you go full cat-back and I'm not about to spend $500+ on one right now.

I would not muffler delete. The vk56 sounds terrible without a muffler of some kind, although you do have many many cats that still tone down the note quite a bit. I would save your money and buy the JBA system, the sound clips i've heard for the new trucks is amazing. Then again, I would also wait a couple years before I started hacking up my "new" truck anyway...but do what you feel is necessary. Yes, the vk56 does scream like a rapped ape without a muffler, but has got to be one of the most annoying noises at high rpms without muffler.

I found this one

One of the users posted this:
"There's nothing aftermarket because, full warranty is void if any alterations. I triple checked. No exhaust or cold air......I just got a titan pro4"
Any truth to this? I suspect this includes tuners and lifts as well.

Ya thats the one. Theres starting to be aftermarket so i doubt that quote about warranty. I mean a dealer could turn arround and blame the aftermarket items but to me its same as before, if they cant prove such item was the cause to the failure they wont get too far.

That video sounds pretty sweet!
As for restrictions about upgrades, I went thru this in 2005 with my 04 Titan. Club Titan did a group buy on B&B cat-back systems (it sounded awesome btw). They also shipped us a piece of paper that was some sort of quote from a law/regulation that says you have the freedom to interchange parts. I'm sorry I don't recall the details since it was 12 yrs ago. But I would not be worried about replacing the stock exhaust with an equivalent performance system. Deleting the muffler altogether may be a different story tho...that's just dumb and asking for problems.
