alright, so im driving home this morning and pull up to a light. im sitting there waiting and a brand new silverado pulls up next to me. no tags, i could see the window sticker on the guy's dash. so he looks over and revs his engine and gives me the stare. i just laugh at him and look forward. the light goes green and this guy takes off and flies out ahead. i laugh again and slowly accelerate off the line. we get to the next light and he is there. he asks me to roll my window down, and tells me "that truck is a piece of ****, more jap crap!" this of course infuriates me, im beyond pissed now, so i scream back "we'll see" normally i wouldn't race during my break in period but this guy
pissed me off big time so i had to show him up. so the light goes green, i punch it and within 6 seconds im at least a truck and a half lengths past him. as we approach the next light about 10 seconds later he's a good 3 trucks behind me. he pulls up and i just look at him and say "what were you sayin biatch?" he laughs and rolls his window up. very very satisfying

Ha, those are the best races. =)

My car is quite the sleeper. The only races that ever worry me are cars with drag radials and BPU+ Supras. Though I don't race much any more. Too many stupid kids.

This has become a bit of a problem for me, smoking F-150s off the line, staying with "fast" cars as we go from light to light, whatever "Hemi" means it doesn't mean fast :).

I am reverting to 16 again, I really have to control myself when the kids are riding with me for fear of setting a bad example for these soon to be drivers.

I think I read somewhere that while the computer on most trucks will not initially give you full horsepower from a standing stop, the Titan has no such limitation. I am inclined to believe this.

It is just too much, you punch it and the exhaust growls while the radio turns itself up and away we go!

I LOVE my truck!

LOL, I know what you mean LS1. We used to have a Ford Taurus SHO and would constanly put BMWs in their place. We had the silencer cone off, so once it got above 3k rpms you could really hear that sucker! Oh yeah, the Honda Civics with grapefruit shooters out the back would always try us because they would see the spoiler and assume WE put a spoiler on a Ford Taurus. Whether it was a BMW, a Civic, and eclipse or even some older Camaros and Mustangs, the puzzled looks were priceless! "Did I just get beat by a Taurus?!?!" :jester:

had another race just about an hour again, im happy to say that i am now 2-0 ;) it was an older f-150 (1997-2003) it some "fast and the furious" punk with his backwards hat and roaring bass. i look over at him and give a friendly nod, but he points at me and gives me the jerkoff sign, and points at the light. oh baby, its on. at the light he takes off, and believe it or not he took me off the line, but that was all he got. after about 7 seconds i pull ahead of him and about 9 seconds later, well, he was quickly pulling into the local vons. i love these cocky *** kids, scary to think i used to be one :haveredfl

I think when I do get my truck, I'm going to spend the first weekend breaking in the engine properly and having the oil changed. I think this is where Ford made its biggest mistake with the new F-150. They didn't take into account that truck owners are more likely to be gear heads. They buy trucks to haul race cars, show cars, motorcycles, dirt bikes, boats, snowmobiles, jetskis... They should have figured that a new truck buyer would want a little zip in the hauler too.

Sweet Kill on the chevy, and you will smoke the new F150's also!! I dont do any racing on the street's. I drive truck for a living, so i cant risk losing my liscence for dragging, plus stop light too stop light wont tell the truth anyhow. Need more then one run too tell the facts. I live 5 minutes from cecil county dragway so i pretty much know the truth. I hope too see some titans up here. March 13th is the first test/tune day. If i see some i will give you the times. They may be alittle slow at first, but they will get much faster toward the end of the season as drivers learn the best launch, and shifts. This stuff takes time. I personally test drove one, and yes, i did run it hard. I do work for Dodge, and deliver too your dealers also, so i got too run it extra hard. LOL Damn nice running truck.. I think 2x4 high 14's 4x4 low 15's. Thats my opinion, i could be wrong, but i think its a fast truck..

Atsenaotie, Hemi dont mean fast huh? Thats cool, bring it too the track. You may get me in the 1/8 and i said MAY get me. In the quarter you aint smokin' no Hemi. I will agree with close stock too stock, but Hemi Slow? I dont think so. I got my truck at the end of the season last year. I got one run in. I ran a 15.1 at 88.30 mph. My race weight was 5,100lb without me in it. I weigh 240 so for 5340lb 4x4 truck too run a 15.1 in the quarter is fast. We will see this season, and i will provide video. I predict it close, but smoking hemi's aint gonna happen.

Don - Be nice!

Budman Hemi delivers vehicles for Dodge and he often delivers to Dodge-Nissan dealers. He is obvioulsy proud of his truck and it is natural for him to defend it. Maybe he is on this board out of a love for trucks. I have not seen one post from Budman Hemi where he has said anything close to being as disrespectful as you.

hey hey, even tho he is a hemi owner and all, be nice to the guy, it is always good to hear a 2nd opinion on things from the guys on the other side of the line, plus he has been polite and informative this entire time. cool down. i personally can't wait to line up with a hemi. my friend also just purchased a TITAN about a month ago and he is 1-1 against hemi's. he believed the one he lost to has modded up, but the one he beat was definately a stock vs. stock race, and of course the TITAN came out on top :haveredfl

Truck Racing?

I am new here. Own a 2004 Cummin Diesel 4X4. I know....what are you doing here? Well, I tried to buy a Titan, but when I purchased the inventory was limited and the dealers around Atlanta were gouging by adding on to the MSRP with things like Teflon polish and high performance floor mats...you know, the add-on game.

I traded in a 2004 F-250 $45,000 Ford experimental 6.0 diesel for the 2004 Dodge Cummin diesel. I love the truck and I tow heavy so its probably the best choice. If Toyota or Nissan made a diesel, I would be driving that now.

I am still interested in the Titan for several reasons: 1) I am going to try to get my wife to trade in her car for one...size, safety and utility reasons; 2) I am pissed at the big 3 for their quality. Your Titan will probably have 1/10 the problems of a Ford, Chevy or Dodge. Some of us have to buy big 3 out of necessity, but anyone buying a gas powered truck from the big 3 needs to be doing some soursearching and then drive a Toyota or Titan.

So, I will be tracking this site with interest. Now on the racing side...if you want to go fast, get a diesel. For a total of $1,200 my F250 was dynoing 420 Rear Wheel Horsepower...comparatively mildly modified in terms of what it could do...It was a CrewCab that suprised more than its share from the stoplight.

With commonrail injection, I can increase my Dodge 2500 to 450 RWHP for about $2500. That will put it in the low 14's in the quarter...What I'm saying is, you might beat a Hemi, but watch out for those diesels...

I am hoping you all have great luck with your trucks and that Americans start buying them in sufficient quantities to send a message to the Big 3.

In my opinion, BudmanHemi is welcome. I think he is a good contributer to the forum and that his views are valuable. I enjoy reading what he has to say. And I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing some of his videos from the races this summer. Welcome to GeorgiaCracker, too.

Nothing wrong with Dodge owners...both my son-in-laws have chosen that lifestyle. One of them has a straight 1500. It hauls well, but it ain't exactly fast. The other has a Hemi and THAT pupppy is quick. They both are willing to admit that my Titan is a nice truck, but they refuse to believe that it could ever beat the Hemi. Well, at some point this summer, after I'm all broken-in, we're gonna find out who's gonna be the top dog around here and I ain't going down easy. Might be time for this old man to cloud up and rain all over those boys. I think my Titan is up for the challenge and I think I can take that Hemi. But I have to admit, I'm pretty sure it'll be close. If he lucks out and wins, I'll blame it on my arthritis. That usually works...

All kidding aside, BudmanHemi and GeorgiaCracker need to keep on posting. I've got nothin' personal against Hemi-rhoids.

Good Luck with the Hemi!

Colorado,

My father-in-law has a Hemi. I tried to talk him out of it. The Hemis have had more than their share of valve train problems and more. The ONLY reason I bought my Dodge was for the Cummin. They have tested them up to 2 million miles and run them for several hundred hours at redline...

I like longevity built into a product...thats why I think the Titan is the most desirable gas truck on the market today (unless you only need 240 HP, then the Toyota is a strong competitor). I have had nothing but good luck with Nissans. Maximas that go past 300,000 miles with no problems.

I am praying that Nissan or Toyota will decide to get into the diesel market. When they do, I think you are going to see some bigtime brand swapping. As has been stated before, most of the stuff is assembled in the US...and many of the parts are made here. So, they are, even though foreign owned, good for the American economy.

Having seen that the real HP being produced by the Titan is close to 350 flywheel, there is good reason to believe that you can out accelerate a Hemi.

A difference might be rearend ratio. What kind of ratio does the Titan come with?
