Well 3 days ago, I picked up my new Titan, A silver king cab LE 4x4, with Tow, and splashguards. Dealer threw in free sliding bed extender, and bed divider because the dealer he traded with wouldn't take them off. I drove to the Chicago area from Wisconsin, and was very happy with the dealer. So if anyone needs advice on a dealer in the Chicago area, let me know. Truck is great, and I love it. Not being a previous truck owner, all I got to say is, it is BIG!!

Well on to my problem: As I was driving in 2wd over ther first 2 days I would notice the green 4LO light flash on, and the Icon with all the wheels flash off. This would happen real sporadically, with no change in the drive. I then tried stopping, and putting it into 4LO, an drove a small distance. I then switched back to 2wd, and it seemed to go away for a while. The next day it started to do it again (4LO flashing while driving freeway speeds in 2wd). So again I stopped, in park, switched to 4LO drove a small distance, then parked and switched back to 2wd.

Well it wouldn't come out of 4LO. the knob was turned to 2wd, but the vehicle stayed in 4LO. Kept stopping and trying to switch between modes. Nothing the 4LO light would flash, and I was stuck in 4LO. Then red ATP light came on solid. I was able to finaaly get it to switch into 4Hi, then it went back to 2wd. 4LO light would still flash on then off very intermitently on the drive home.

I called the dealer down in Chicago, and we decided it would be easier for me to take it to a local dealer. He was very helpful though, and stated, that if I had any problems, to call him. So yesterday I took it in. I was not to encouraged, when the dealer stated "This is the first Titan we have worked on so please be patient with us" I called at the end off the day, of course they could not reproduce the problem. They called Nissan, who said they believe it is possibly a "sensor in the transmission". Nissan supposedly stated the will be sending a TSB to all dealers about this sensor. They would have to order this part, with no time frame. They said it was ok to drive my truck in the meantime.

I am a little skeptical, as wheter this is truly the problem. Not knowing a great deal, it seems to me some sort of electrical problem with communcation with the transfer case, not the transmission, unless the sensors somehow communicate with each other. If not I will be at the dealers everyday. :crying:

I will keep you updated. If anyone hears anything, or has similar problem, let me know. No regrets, YET.

Remember that with all of this computer stuff, I can tell you there will be some issues no matter what! It will take time to find all the "software bugs". It could also be just a bad sensor. That can happen. I do feel for you man. At least it is not like my father who purchased a Ford Explorer, and now in the cold when he first starts it up the bearing howl for 10 sec until the oil gets to them. I expect a blown engine soon, the dealer cannot reproduce, and is not interested in listening to the tape recording of the sound!

getting out of 4wd lo

in my case, it was my error. :eek2:
after using 4wd lo, would not get back to 2wd.
i then read the manual: put in "N" for Neutral then all was well.

good luck, joeandmaria.

sensors

They seem to be a problem in may cars. My wife bought a new CR-V in october and has never got more than 420 km (250miles) to a tank of gas. It should get between 480 to 600+ kms. Last week the engine light came on, then went out later, then came on again for a day then went out never to go back on. The tank of gas after it went on the first time, we got 190 kms on. The next tank we got 170 kms. The dealer eventually said after a lot of calling Honda)it was the O2 sensors (both of them) that went bad. The vehicle only has 5000kms. I don't know if they are right, because we only have gone 130kms and we have used another 1/2 tank of gas.

My point is Honda has had the CR-V for a long time and my dealer couldn't solve the problem so give Nissan a little time.

In the mean time, with our high gas prices up here, it is costing us a fortune in gas while the dealer plays around trying to fix it.

Boy, I wish my Titan were here so we could drive it and get better mileage than my CR-V :crying:

What does that figure out in mpg? I can't believe your looking forward to better gas mileage in a Titan as compared to a CRV. Sounds like something is REALLY wrong with your honda.

Ya, thats the point! I originally mentioned the sensors because that is what Nissan told the origanl poster what was wrong. Sensors seem to be a failing in many vehicles. The point about getting better gas mileage in teh Titan was there is something drastically wrong with our new CR-V. I don't know the mpg's but it is worse than the Titan!

As an aside, our fey fobs are now working sometimes and sometimes not. And my wife has had to reprogram the radio 3 times because it all blanks out! Gremlins!!
