So the day has come, a day i thought would not be knocking at the door just yet.

Got news from the dealer about my 04 128k titan that the both manifolds are cracked i have a rear axle leak resulting in a bill just under 3 grand. I love my truck always have always will but i just done see it lasting much longer even after the fixes. so i have been looking at 09ish versa and sentras.
I just need a commuter car as of now. They said they would give me 8k for trade in which i guess will have to do from the 35k i paid, oh well that is a vehicle for you.
So if anyone has any input on a better solution (aka manifolds, versa, sentra, etc) please feel free.

PS. after much research about the faulty manifolds i spoke to a rep from Nissan USA and after debating about it there was nothing they would do.:bangit:

Headers. The rear axle leak is common but quite a few members on here have found remedies.
Sentra is better than Versa hands down. I work on Nissans just about every day. Although they are both rather entry level. If you can afford it Altima/Maxima will give you far more bang for your buck, not to mention resale value.

Have you considered the "downgrade" to a Frontier or Pathfinder?
headers hmm, who would be a good recommendation?

I am wanting something in the >15k range with good gas mileage. dont really need a truck or suv anymore my gf has one.
most interested in this sentra, what do you think gregk

Nice find! I'm really liking the interior color combination, not many around like that. The option list is great, low mileage, balance of warranty.. Yup, that's a winner there for sure!

See if they have the service records too, just for a little more peace of mind. At that mileage it isn't a huge deal if they don't, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

how do 150$ amnifolds and a 300$ junkyard part cost 3k? You could change all that in a weekend with some beerz:ftard:
I am a true Nissan fan. I have the Titan and a Murano but, I was thinking the other day if I were to buy a commuter car, I would want it to be sporty and fun as well as get good gas milage. My answer to all of that would be the Hundai Genesis 2.0 with 10yr/100,000 warranty. Sporty rear wheel drive and it won't break the bank... Good luck on your decision.

Where are you going to find said manifolds for $150?

I hate to say it, but I would take an SE/R over a Genesis any day.

was looking at headers and nice how right on the stillen page it states:

"Nissan Titan cracked manifolds and failed catalytic converters are a pretty common problem. Factory replacement manifolds typically run around $1,100.00 per side! Significantly more expensive than a pair of STILLEN long tube Titan headers! "
I dont like anything from Nissan but the Titan. the looks just dont do it for me. and they ones that do cost 80K lol
Post a thread about wanting to buy OEM manifolds. If I'm not mistaken, someone started a thread for OEM manifolds, and quit a few people responded...Otherwise get some Stillen headers

Unfortunately, there's a lot of us out there who dont want to deal with the extra noise, codes, re-tunes, etc, etc, etc when dealing with headers....Sucks:bangit:
Cheers, Lee S.

will try, thanks
My 04 had cracked manifolds so I replaced them with JBA Shorty headers. A LOT cheaper route. Rear axle seals busted at about 150K and the dealership changed them out for $700. I got over 235K out of my 04 so your truck still has a lot of life left in her.

235,000 miles….Thats a lot of driving. I have an 05' and I'm only hitting 60,000. I know a lot of you drive a lot more driving than I do. I'm an exception to the 12,000 miles a year rule.
