A freind of mine got a 2012 or 2011(cant remeber the year) 302 Boss mustang. Problem is there is over spray on the car....he clay barred the overspray off the painted areas and glass, but the problem is the car has alot of vinyl black stripes on it. All down the side and a large one on the hood. They also have overspray on them. We work at a body shop so the overspray may have come from here, or from Ford....not sure which.

I need some advice from someone that knows how to remove overspray from large vinyl decals without damaging them....

Appreciate any tips...

lacquer thinner will discolor and maybe even melt the vinyl.

Prep sol....will discolor the vinyl. Have to be careful with liquid chemicals cause the vinyl can absorb it.

Give what Skyboi said a shot. He knows his stuff! You may want to try hairspray. It may have just enough solvents in it to remove the paint without damaging the vinyl.

However, I have a feeling your friend is gonna need to replace the stripes to make it look good. That's what I would do...
Thats what I suggested also, to replace it.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
