I need a little help with selecting a performance muffler. I'm in a 2007 LE. I'm trying to choose between Magnaflow and Flowmaster 40 Series, 44, 50 (and list seems to go on and on). If I'm not mistaken, my truck has dual inlet/single outlet. I don't know much about this stuff so I'm really relying on forum help here. I would imagine the most economical would be to just replace the muffler keep the OEM piping? I'm def looking for a deep grunt type of sound. The next option I guess would be to replace the muffler and have custom piping installed to achieve a dual in/dual out configuration. I don't have a ton of money to spend on a whole new exhaust system, so I 'm trying to make this as economical as possible while achieving the result I would like. Is that possible? Thanks for your help!!!

I've had them both, and it really boils down to opinion as to which sounds best...but for me it's basically Flowmaster for sound, Magnaflow for performance. A flowmaster will be louder in the cab (drone) than a magnaflow, but in my opinion it's almost worth it because it sounds so much better. I have a dual in/dual out magnaflow 22" on mine now, but I'm really considering switching back to a flowmaster.

Keeping the stock piping is not a bad idea at all...the factory pipe on 07+ is pretty nice. An 18" magnaflow (part number 12258) would be good...has a nice deep growl, but not too loud inside. To do dual in/single out with a flowmaster, i believe you have to use the 50 series...i haven't had that one, but I have had the 40 series 2 chamber dual in/dual out and it sounds really good to me although it is a little louder inside the cab. I'm betting the 18" magnaflow would fit the bill the best for you though...

Just for a comparison, I made this video a while back comparing my flowmaster vs my magnaflow 22"....

Man, I love the way the Maggy sounds MUCH better than the Flowmaster. It had absolutely no rasp and wasn't ridiculously loud, but was authoritative. Very good sound IMO.

I think I'm beginning to understand a bit more now, thanks everyone. And the videos are awesome. I'm leaning towards the Magnaflow at this point. My next question is regarding pipe size. I'm sure I could measure, but hoping someone knows off the top of their head. I've looked at other forums and it appears the stock pipe size on the '07 is 2.25" In and 3" out? Or is it 2.25" In and 2.5" out? Thanks again for all the help, I'm not very good at this stuff yet.
