I need help selecting an amp...
I'm looking for a 2 channel amp that pushes around 400w through each channel with around 500w of peak power for each channel.
Any suggestions?

We need a little more info.

What will you have hooked to the amp and what is your budget?

Subs love mono... Sundown 100.2 will beat the hell out of most subs...
I <3 JL, but "gurus" out there say they're over rated.

JL makes a nice amp but they are WAY overpriced and VERY inefficient. You can get a lot more for your money. They still make nice subs but the W6 and W7 are overpriced. The W6 was a much better sub 10 years ago and it use to cost half as much. I still like JL and they make a solid product but their pricing has gotten crazy, they are getting a little whored out, and they spend too much money trying to re-invent the wheel.
it will be connected to two 12" kicker cvrs
am i going about this right? do i want to have the max rms that the sub can handle or is that just what creates the rumbling?

Headroom is good. Subs are most often blown from being under powered.
Get something of some quality. The worse thing you can do is get an amp then have to replace it. (install, uninstall & install again)
The most important thing is to get a good quality amp and be sure to feed it a clean signal. Its not watts that blows speakers its distortion. I am feeding my 500wrms sub 1K watts from an Arc XXK-2500 that is bridged. Its fine with it because its very clean power. Like 'dizzle said, headroom is good! You dont need to do double the power, its a waste, just get a bit more than the rated RMS and you'll be good!

As mentioned before the Sundown 100.2 is a great amp and really has some good power behind it. Its also underrated so dont let that 100x2 number fool you, its more than that!
The 100.2 has as much power as most 600 watt amps out there.
How do you think the 100.2 would perform with two 10" shallow P3's in a sealed box?

Assuming you have the Dual 4 ohm versions the 100.2 will match up well with those subs. The Sundown 1000D is also a good canditate.
Don't actually have them yet. If they were the dual 2 ohm would the 1000d be better. Which would be the better ones to get...the 2ohm or the 4ohm? Do you build your boxes based on the specs of the subs? Eventually looking to get the box and most likely amp from you to pair with 2 p3s

If you don't have the subs already don't waste your time or money on them. There is NO reason to buy shallow subs for the Titan when you have 6" of mounting depth to play with plus there are far better subs than the P3's. Sundown Audio has a couple options and both are good subs. The Boston G1's are probably the most bang for the buck and their entire lineup is impressive. Hit tech12volt up for a package deal. I would run a pair of Boston G1's off a Sundown 100.2 in a custom built tech12volt enclosure or a pair of Boston G3's off a 1000D in a tech12 enclosure. You will not be disappointed. Tech12volt is an Authorized Rockford dealer so he isn't blowing smoke up your *** when he talks about how good Sundown and Bostons actually are...
Would a seat lift be necessary with the Boston G1's? Looking to avoid doing that. I Have an 07 kc

The only step you may need to take is removing the rear floor mats. The back seats seem to very in height but the G1's should fit perfectly.
