So I had the 2 into 1 Borla muffler that's been recommended on just about every thread. Well it wasn't till it was on the lift, that the shop and I noticed that right after the muffler, instead of a turn down, it was a turn up, as in the exhaust tip went straight up into the cab. So after them having to make special angles of exhaust tubing and $250 later, we got the Borla installed.
I must say, I was EXTREMELY dissapointed in the sound. Sure, it's a tad louder and a tad more throaty, but barely noticeable. Everything else is stock exhaust wise. I was hoping for a little bit of a performance gain or a fuel mileage increase, but nothing. I do have a drop in K&N Air Filter.
Right now, I don't have the money for headers and a full Cajun exhaust or a CAI. It is on the list someday along with either a 90mm or 108mm LS7 Throttle Body, Electric Fan Conversion if I can find a much cheaper way, but get the same effectiveness than spending an insane $650 on it,also maybe Camshafts and obviously overpriced UpRev. The CAI apparently needs to be 4" and if I remember correctly. AIR raid is the only true 4". I really like Volant, but it's not a true 4" and it's super pricey.
But right now, I just want a louder exhaust. It still sounds almost stock. There is a guy making a 90mm TB adapter with the harnesses needed for $300. It's pretty damn expensive for what it 8s. Adapter, 2 harnesses and a ROM file f9rm UpRev. $200 sounds fair to me, but I'm sure it takes time out from the guy's schedule and he had to spend a little bit of time in R&D for the harnesses.. Once or if I get UpRev, I'm going to have an 87 octane economy tune, a 83 octane performance tune, a valet tune, towing tune and an E-85 performance tune.
Can I cut off the rear resonators and replace them with exhaust tubing or would that make it sound raspy? Would a large exhaust tip help with the sound?
$2000 for an exhaust is just expensive, but just realized that comes with UpRev,but is that the full blown UpRev that gives me every option? Now if this was a few years ago, I could afford it, but I'm not even in the position to start saving money till I move back to Texas and get back in the workforce. Can't work right now due to medical reasons and the only jobs where I'm living at now, is all hard manual labor, which I physically can't do. UT I'm going to try again as I'm renting my grandmother's house out cheap with my girlfriend. Rent will be $2t0.each. it's the electric bill in the exact summer months.that runs $300 month. I just need to make atleast $1e- $14/hr a jeez that's so pathetic compared to what I use to make on salary. Anyway, I'm getting off track.
I read B-Pipes are $90 a piece, but is that going to improve my sound?
What is the one item I can retrofit easily that will give me the sound I'm after before going with a $2k exhaust system?
FYI, I don't have to worry about emissions.
