So, decided to buy another new Titan. A local dealership found the exact 2017 Pro4X model I wanted (color, options, etc). However, it had 571 miles on it, and now that they DROVE it from their sister-dealership in Houston up to Dallas, it has 810 miles on it. In my opinion, anything over 500 miles is NOT a new truck...even if it's never been titled, that's simply not "new" to me. My 2013 had 8 miles on it when I picked it up.

I cannot find another color and optioned truck near me. So, in the opinions of the this forum, if I go ahead with the purchase of this truck, what should I ask as fair compensation for the excessive mileage? If $$, how much should they come off the asking price? If services, which ones would be commensurate (Window Tint, Free oil changes, All-weather mats, etc).

Or...am I just being too picky??

Please advise ASAP...supposed to pick it up tomorrow.

I would certainly want that mileage tacked on to the end of the warranty. I would also want like 2k off or maybe that in accessories. When I bought my 15 it had 13 miles on it and I put 10 of them on during the test drive.

Not sure what dealer you are going to, but I'm in the same area.

When I got my 2014 Pro4X at Nissan of McKinney, they threw in 2 years of free oil change/tire rotations, service inspection. Plus tinted the windows to close the deal. I think it had 14 miles on it when I picked it up. You should go for that regardless the miles. With those miles, see if they will give you free maintenance during the first 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty period.

You should be getting also some big Nissan rebate/incentives right now. I just got an email from McKinney on their promotions - ditched it so going by memory here - for the 2017s, there are two Nissan promotions, $3500 and $500, and another $1000 for return customer "loyalty," after discounting the truck. Discount was $5000 on a loaded platinum and 2600-2700 on an SV (before the promotions). All told, even before negotiations begin they were coming off the sticker by $7600 to $10,000 right now...

Get 'em to throw in another $1000 for the miles....

Good luck!

I'm buying from Trophy because its where we've bought all SEVEN of our last Nissans (since 2006). They've always given us amazing deals (better than any other Nissan dealership in the metroplex) so I didnt want to come across as unreasonable, and therefore I was a feeling a bit reluctant to ask for more. However, after reading your post you've absolutely confirmed my desire to want SOMETHING additional for the miles on that truck.

Thanks

I was in the same boat when trying to locate my 2010 (color, options etc.). My local dealer found exactly what I was looking for, but a total of 500 miles away. I didn't care. Getting exactly what I wanted overshadowed the added miles. The way I also saw it, the truck got its first 500 miles broken in on a highway vs most of my driving in town. It turned out to be a great truck for five years with little to no issues. In regards to price or receiving more money back, I knew I was already getting a deal, being a multiple new Nissan purchaser. Just my 2c. Good luck!

The warranty starts when it's titled in your name so the mileage doesn't really matter from that standpoint. I once bought a "new" truck with almost a thousand miles on it. It was a great truck (98 Nissan Frontier) and I wouldn't sweat it. If you want something that specific, your choices are to go with whatever can be found or order something. The likelihood is that you're going to have a thousand miles on it in no time anyway.

I wouldn't sweat it, but if it bothers you that much walk away.

I wouldn't walk away... just use the miles as a negotiating point. Right now, the dealers are doing everything they can to move these trucks.

Picked up the truck this morning. Final deal was $9,200 off sticker ($52,540) and they threw in a set of running boards (step bars, whatever) since I was balking at the miles. They also discounted the service package (which gives me the free oil changes to 50K miles). However, I probably would have got the same deal if the truck had 5 miles since this makes the 8th vehicle I've purchased from them.

Truth be told, as soon as I saw the truck I didn't really care if I got anything extra or not...it's exactly what I wanted and I think the price was fair.

Thanks again for the advice.

That's all that matters in the end - if you're satisfied!

Well done. You took something that could be a deal breaker for others and used it to your advantage. You've got the best warranty in the history of pickup trucks anyway. Now you've got the truck you really wanted. Sounds like they compensated you nicely with the svc. pkg. and some goodies. Just don't forget to hold it over their head at what a big favor you did them by taking that old beater off their hands. (lol) Enjoy your new truck.

OK, if you insist.

Here is the truck being detailed in the back of the dealership...

And one of the aftermarket (N-FAB) step bars they installed complementary...

Also have some All-Weather mats owed to me, but apparently they're on national backorder.

Pretty much looks like every other 2017 Titan out there...for now. Gonna have all the chrome badges wrapped in black or carbon, then hopefully someone will make a leveling kit soon that fits the front of the 2017 PRO-4X...or something OTHER than the 6" Rough Country lift, which is all I could find.
