The starter on my 2004 Titan is starting to go bad, so I decided to replace today. When I got the intake off I found what looks like a rats nest. Problem is that it gnawed thru the wires to two electrical devices next to the starter. Does anyone know what those are for? I attached a picture.

It would help if you got all that b/s out of there. Normally, knock sensors go around that area...

Attached is a picture after I vacuumed it out. Knock sensors would make sense since I have not had any problems other than the starter. Looks like I'll need to buy some new ones and do some soldering.
