New headlights

This old and well worn 2005 Titan I bought last certainly needed new headlights. The old one's, not even sure they were original, were very hazy and there was little lights to drive by at night. I used three (3) methods to remove the haze from the lights and each one seemed to make matters worse. Upon closer inspection I determined that there was a haze on the inside of the clear lens of the lights and no way to polish this out. I went through the same experience two (2) years ago when I bought a 2010 Jeep Patriot. I finally changed out those headlights also. IF these photos come through it will show how hazy the old lights were and how good these new lights look on this eighteen (18) year old truck look. I bought these new light sets from "CarParts.com" and they were about $240 including bulbs. I just didn't want to go through changing the bulbs IF the old ones were original. I have a lot of experience working on older cars/trucks and this one was interesting. Removing the grill was not really easy but some YouTube videos made it easier, spraying some lube on the plastic fasteners seemed to help them "pop out" of where they had been popped in. Maybe the hardest part was finding those two (2) 6mm bolts with the 8mm head that retains the headlight assembly to a part of the fender. I had to remove a screw that holds the rubbery inner fender in place, bend it back and squeeze my arm into a small space to remove those two bolts. The hardest part may have been removing the lower trim piece from the old headlights to place them on the new headlights. There are two (2) plastic retainers that have "ears" that have to bent back to remove them. I used a small pick that was bent sort of 90 degrees, in a curl shape, to press the lower part of the tabs to remove them. Patience, patience, and I got them loose without breaking them. After removing the grill I hooked up the new lights to make sure they worked--they worked just fine. So, let's see if I can attach the photos: Well it seems that the first photo has a blue haze to it, don't know why, , ,

Really good tips on avoiding breaking on the old plastic connectors.

A few years back, I got so fed up with the OEM halogens, and any drop-in HID or LED "bulb", I ended up retrofitting my OEM headlights with G5-R projectors, and yup, like you, I had to refinish the lenses and I definitely considered new headlight housings TBH. Best mod on my truck by far.
I did end up having to do a similar thing as you with our 2003 Acura TL, HID headlights were so far beyond any attempts to freshen up, I ended up buying OEM-style aftermarkets with new bulbs.

I really dislike those "projector" type aftermarkets for the Titan, they are known to be leaky and poor light patterns.

Here's my OEM headlights with G5-R projectors, just in case it may motivate you to go the next step......
