Hey guys, new member here who really likes the new Titan and am definitely considering it as my next truck. My question is if any of y'all more dedicated fans of the truck have heard anything about the new V6 that's supposed to be the released as the new base (supposedly) engine for the Titan? My trucks tend to have hard lives (I take great care of them, I just need them to do the things needed to get done and I rarely have a garage or a car wash; often all I have to offer is a relatively frequent oil change in the evironments I work in). Subsequently, I always have gone for a base model, 2WD w/ the base 6 cylinder in a truck, with the only upgrades being an LSD/Locker, trailer hitch, and an extended cab. I don't need the power of a V8 and frankly I like saving the money out the door, often alot in the full size truck world, for opting for the smaller motor, and the benefits of lower overall operating costs and slight savings in fuel. So, I'm just interested if anyone has heard anything, if it's still a thing. A V6 King Cab S Titan would be a perfect workhorse for me. Doing a little research I would be happy with the V6's in both the Frontier or the Pathfinder; plenty of power to move the truck and do the things I need it to do. Thanks guys.

Welcome to TitanTalk!

The V8 doesn't get gas mileage that is very good, certainly not as good as some of the competitors. If Nissan does come out with a V6 it's going to have to show much better MPG. When rumors of the V8 Cummins diesel came out there was an expectation that it was going to get almost 30 MPG highway. The last I looked, it didn't come anywhere near that in practice. I don't see how Nissan will maintain weight carrying capacity with a normally aspirated V6.

Thanks for the response! My current Chevy has a naturally aspirated V6 w/ 285hp and 305 lb/ft, and moves the truck plenty fine for me, especially for how much cheaper it was to buy and insure. The 3.5L in the Pathfinder makes 284hp I believe, so I'm confident with some rear end ratio finangling and using the 7 speed (my current truck is a 6 speed) it would at least move fine, the Titan doesn't look THAT much heavier than my Silverado. The Frontier motor has less HP but more torque. I just like the idea of a King Cab truck with an MSRP in the high 20's haha. I understand I am very much a niche market.
