Thanks..looks like i will have to try it!
I usually stay at the Windsor Court, but I get deals there. It's across from Harrah's. The W is nice too. The Sheraton, Hilton and Westin are all in the same convenient little circle at the base of Canal St. that gives easy (walking) access to the Quarter without being stuck in it. Check out any of the Brennan family restaurants, every one of them is amazing. But dress up, don't go in wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Plenty of tourists try that and either get turned away or just look like idiots. For more casual fare try Deanie's, Acme House or the Gumbo Shop. The casino downtown is fun but has crappy odds. Don't rent a car, it'll be more of a hassle than a help if you're staying downtown, save your $ for food & booze.

There's a place called Parrans in Metarie. It's not a nice restaurant and it's in a questionable neighborhood but they are well known for their seafood. It's kind of a hike from the French Quarter, though. I usually just like having raw oysters and beer in the Quarter. By "boys" do you mean sons or buddies? If buddies, I'd recommend Rick's Cabaret. Stay away from the place with the swinging legs over the door! Krystal Burger makes for a great late night snack as well. Try a Hand Grenade and a Hurricane.
If you got the cash, check out the Royal Sonesta in the quarter. It will be on St Peter and Bourbon. Nice place, but some of the rooms can be pricey. The Hilton is also a good stay. You can pretty much walk into any restaraunt and get some good food. If you are not too hung over you can walk to Cafe du Monde for some beignets and coffee. That is in Jackson Square by the river.
Also, I know on Sunday game days, the cabbys offer $5 cab rides from the quarter to the dome. Renting a car would be a waste. Just get the hotel shuttle to take you to and from the airport, which is about 20 mins away.
Geaux Saints!!
The Court of Two Sisters is well-known for their brunch. It's in the Quarter.
