It does not fade in and out of stereo much but just the volume and bass or what ever the darn thing is doing. Very strange and disturbing

You do know that the stereo has a speed sensitive volume control don't you. You are describing that and not station or stereo fade.

If you have the Navigation system, press the tuning dial about 5 times while the radio is on. You will see the option to change the setting.

Not sure how to do it if you don't have the Nav. system.
