Hey all. I'm trying to generate interest across the FB groups and here on the forum for a new ram air hood.

As I'm sure many of you know, our options are fairly limited on that front. As far as I know we have Keystone, and Suncoast/Amerihood (which look nearly identical). That being said, I have been talking to a great company called RKSport. They are a family owned business operated in the good old U.S. of A. I dealt with their head sales and marketing rep, named Cesar. Very prompt, polite and informative guy. They recently started making products for Nissan, kicking it off with the '16+ Cummins. I saw the hood, was blown away by it, and wanted to see if they would consider producing one for the first gens. To make a long story short, they will. Their terms are this:

20 pre-order deposits of $300.

Total price:
$775 shipped for 20-24 pledges ($300 deposit is included in this, $475 remainder).
$675 shipped for 25-34 pledges ($300 deposit is included in this, $375 remainder).
$600 shipped for 35+ pledges ($300 deposit is included in this, $300 remainder).

Total turnaround time (following SEMA): 6-8 weeks.

Ram-Air Hood price comparison:
Suncoast: ~$975 shipped (suncoast website)
Keystone Good Hood: ~$870 shipped (summit racing)
Amerihood Type-S: ~$650 shipped (Amerihood website)

Once 20 deposits are taken, and SEMA is over with, they will begin a mold. By the time all is said and done, the hoods should be good to ship by the end of the year/first week of January, provided the 20 deposit threshold is met before SEMA.

I'll be in constant contact with him over the next couple of weeks trying to organize this. I already know of a few people that are interested. I will use this thread to consolidate the names and numbers I acquire from other sources as well.

Please, shoot me a PM with your real name, or post up here if you are interested. Let's make this thing happen!

Love the hood. Wonder how it'll look though, our hoods are smaller, the proportions will be different for sure.

Agreed, it would be. Worst case, I imagine the intake would be a bit shorter, and 1 extractor per side would be lost.

These guys do great work so I have complete faith they would still put out an awesome, and unique product.

I don't think the price is that bad, but I can't see doing it unless I saw an actual prototype or drawing. I would rather see one on a truck really. I've learned my lesson with backing on indiegogo and Kickstarter, that even established companies with good reputations can put out a poor product or skew from design plan. I don't know anything about this company, so I am not passing judgement, just saying that they wouldn't get my money without at least working prototype. In the event that someone gets one and like to share some pictures and build quality, I would be interested.

It's unfortunate because I'd also be in if I could see at least a prototype.

I'll have to think on this one

I hear your concerns. Unfortunately, being that the aftermarket for Titans is, for lack of a better word, garbage, compared to most vehicle makes; sometimes you just have to jump in. Considering they already have a working hood for dozens of other models, including the '16+ Ts, and are an active, award winning company at SEMA, I'd say they're as safe a bet as it gets. I completely understand that some people aren't willing and I wouldn't try to convince someone who isn't comfortable, but all signs point to the production of a successful product.

That being said, I'd be more than happy to put up my impressions of the hood once I get it. They said they will continue producing it after making the mold, however pricing will not be the same. $700 is the worst case, and they approved further price reductions at the 25 mark, and 35 marks if we stretch that far.

It's unfortunate because I'd also be in if I could see at least a prototype.

Similarly to what I said above, I know the feeling. I've gotten burned once or twice myself, but I'm feeling good about this company. Good enough to where I'm willing to be the first one to take the risk with my money, and I'm not exactly rich.

Let me know what you decide!

Quick bump. Slots are still going pretty quick.

Working on the possibility of getting the original 20 hoods numbered in a commemorative fashion as a small extra incentive for the first production run. PM me if interested.

Not much damage to my truck couple scrapes on the rim an tire an a small dent on bottom of cab an door an rear fender.
Only thing is I will not accept bondo work on a truck with 15000 kilometres on it.

Sounds good. We just reached 20 today, so the project is a GO. We're going to start getting deposits trickling in this month. They're going to draw up the concept on a stock hood and make sure everything is satisfactory before they actually charge accounts. I'll post up whatever they send me for everyone to see.

Quick picture update on the hood we have in production. This is the new ram air hood fitted to the Cummins XD. I have confirmation from the manufacturer that the first generation hood will be nearly identical to this hood: A large center inlet port, flanked by heat extractors on both sides.

Also, an update as far as payments: DEPOSITS WILL NOT BE TAKEN UNTIL THE MOLD IS MADE. Payment information will be put on hold until that time. Once the mold is completed and is satisfactory, deposits will be taken and the hood will go in to production. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks man, glad to be a part. I can't wait to see these things start shipping. The fitment on that new Cummins hood has me even more optimistic than before.

HOOD IS OFFICIALLY IN PRE-ORDER STATUS. Please refer to this link to secure your spot. NO PAYMENT IS DUE. NO PAYMENT INFORMATION IS TAKEN. Nothing will be provided until after the mold is finalized in November.

03-15 Titan Ram Air Hood

Adjustments to pricing were made due to shipping. New prices have been updated in the initial post. We are 2 people away from the first stretch goal (25), so final pricing should be no more than $650 shipped.

If you pre-order, PLEASE PM me your order number, real name, and the email address you provided when you ordered.

Thanks all!
