Hello to all XD both gasoline and Cummins owners. I would like as much input as possible both positive and negatives as to the overall performance and quality of the vehicle you may have. I am looking to purchase an XD and trying to decide between the gas/diesel. My understanding is that the XD is between the 1/2 and 3/4 ton and considered a 5/8 ton according to pick up standards in my research. I actually would like to hear more straight from the guys like me who use the Trucks that I want to purchase. Thank you in advance for your help and opinions.

Cheap advice, stay away from the diesel, at least till all the bugs get worked out. If it were me, I would go with the gasser XD. Just my 2c.

The fuel mileage on them is actually close enough, I think it's hard to justify the diesel anyways, even if I do kind of want one.
Agree, and the premium price to purchase for lackluster HP & TQ numbers too.

I say if you read the forums all your going to find is the bad. People want to share the bad news but if you enjoy your XD you don't want to be bothered with sharing.

On that note I love my XD. Day 1 gas mileage sucked however the more I drive it the better it gets. Started with 8 and now up to 16.9 and waiting for that coveted break-in point where we get 20+

The transmission was rough at the start but it seemed to also need a little break-in as it seems to run smooth now.

As far as comfort and sitting in every other truck I believe Nissan hit the mark. After several hours in any other truck my back would scream. Not in the Titan. The cameras are also going to spoil me and really needed in small areas to park this beast.

I had an old 2006 Titan and hands down the best truck I have ever owned and I grew up a Chevrolet guy. So far the XD is proving to be the next best truck in my opinion.

The question about whether to go gas or diesel with the XD boils down to one question: do you tow a lot? If yes, the Cummins diesel will probably serve you better. Fuel efficiency and power delivery is better when towing with the diesel. If the answer is, I mostly drive it without a trailer or heavy loads, than I like the VK56VE gas engine better. Either way, the heavy duty XD chassis will really help with occasional towing.
