Just installed the Nismo CAI on my 06 Titan and it sounds great. Except at about 1500 rpms. There is a high piched sound coming from under the hood. Anyone have any idea what it is.

Also, there are four bolts with washer and locking nut that go across the bottom of the heat shield. Anyone know how to install them. I spent two hours trying to get to them and could only install one loosly. As of now they are left over parts.

Couldn't tell ya about the 1500rpm noise you're hearing sorry! :( But check out this link that I made when I was installing mine, the guys here really helped me in learning how to install those 4 screws. It sucks and I'd recommend 2 people to do it (1 ontop of the engine and one in the wheel well with long arms) but I'd def recommend doing it as it holds the intake in nice and secure. Hope this helps!!

Well for the 4 bolts, you need to take the inner fender liner loose from the front. I think it the 2 phillips screws and about 3 pop snaps and the front of the liner will come down far enough to get the 4 little bolts in. I think its a 8mm nut and bolt. Just reach in and start them by hand, then put a wrench behind on the bolt and use a socket with a extension to tighten it. My Titan is lifted, so it was rather east to get the the nuts and bolts in.

As for the high pitched noise at 1500, do you have a throttle body spacer? If so, then thats the whine you will hear. If not, just make sure you check all your connections. I have a TBS and other then towing, you don't hear it unless your on it...... Hope this helps.

I had the exact same issue. After looking under the hood, two spots were problematic. The bottom front of the box was lightly touching the fenderwell below it. Also, the top driver's side of the box's front panel was lightly touching the driver's side panel. Took it back to the dealer and they put weatherstripping in one place (top driver's side). Got better but still not completely gone. I found the other spot after pushing and knocking on the box (front panel vibrating at bottom). Went to Pep Boys and bought more weatherstripping. Slapped a 6" piece under it and re-tightened. All quiet now. Hope that helps.

I've got an Injen intake on mine and get a high pitched whine between 14 and 16 hundred rpms. Seems like it's just something you have to live with from the intakes.
Ya, a friend of mine has a CAI on his Tundra and the same high pitched sound comes from the engine at around those RPMS. I agree that it's just something you have to live with. How do you like the Injen's power increase?
