Have '04 KC with OR package. I want to add the same hitch that would have been on the truck had I got the BT package.

I see the hitches for sale on the web, what class hitch is it? (III or IV)? Is the class IV the only one Nissan sells for the Titan?

What else comes with the hitch? Mounting bolts? Relays? 7-pin plug? Wiring harness? In other words, if I buy the hitch, what else will I have to buy to be ready to go? I have some 2" ball mounts laying around that I had when I owned my GMC.

What about the brake controller wiring? I have a Tekonsha Voyager that my wife had in her Tundra for towing horse trailers. What do I need to get that working? Harness? Wiring diagrams?

Anyone got pics or a thread on an install of the OEM hitch?

Thanks. :pieceandl

I bought an OEM hitch for my 08 and it came with everything needed. The one thing not included is the receiver, but I already had one. I installed it in about 20 to 30 minutes. I would recommend an OEM.

same here. got it from the dealer. had everything i needed... relays, 7 slot plug, mounting bolts, etc. everything needed came with the hitch. quick and easy install (you'll need a torque wrench and an 18mm socket).

the brake controller is going to require a harness. you can pick one up that should just plug and play... that is unless like me you're running an 04 XE KC. LOL. we got screwed and have to wire ourselves. LOL

Which relays do I need, it seems they are different depending on year? I have an '04 SE with OR. Here's a pic of my under hood fuse box:

The controller plug is there, right above the parking brake pedal. So just buy the adapter from some RV/towing place and it's ready?

Thanks guys.

Most aftermarket hitches are class IV as well. The rating system is a joke. If you look at almost any hitch they say class III then if you look closer they will handle 10,000lbs with a weight distributioning hitch receiver. That is how the OEM one is as well. It is a Class III with a regular receiver and Class IV with a weight distributioning hitch receiver.

How often for you see hitch failures, typically it is not near the weakest point. I went with a hidden hitch because it was cheaper and looked alot better than OEM.

You will need two relay, see picture.

As for the brake controller you can get the harness from Nissan, hook your contoller up to it and plug it in to the pigtail under the driver side area.

Thanks baseballfanz! That's what I needed to know about the relays.

I looked under the back bumper, there is a circular 7-pin connector there. Does that snap directly into the connector on the OEM hitch, or is there a short harness that connects the two? Is that harness included with the hitch?

you'll need two. that's exactly how mine looked. it's, obviously, the two empty ones there. they're different to... so it's easy to determine which relay goes where. actually mine came with 3, but two were exactly the same and there were only the two spots shown in your pic to plug into. the 3rd, according to the instructions is for a different model vehicle i think.

if you have the controller plug you're good to go. you'll just need to make sure you get the harness/plug for the titan with whichever controller you buy.
