So, I'm looking at a 2015 Nissan Titan Pro 4X w/ Luxury package 11k miles. The catch is that it's on a rebuilt title. The dealer is telling me that it was a test truck. That Nissan tested it, salvaged the title to void the warranty, then auction them off. It is serial number 00001. Can anyone attest to the validity of the statement?

News to me, but you would think Nissan would still honor the warranty if they were selling them still. Also, any of the vehicles I was around that were automotive test vehicles, the manufacturer destroyed them after they were done because of the amount of prototype level stuff in them and the amount of abuse they saw.

Basically, I'd call bull **** on it based on my experience with domestic auto manufacturers and run as fast I could away from it. And as always, if it's on a salvage title, it better be one hell of a good deal because you sure aren't going to get much for it if you try to resell it.

Also with a salvage title. In some states you can't register it or insure it. Maybe sure you check on that first.

I agree with Indy. Usually testing mules are "tested", "broken down" to check tolerances and specs and destroyed thereafter. I believe your biggest hurdle would be getting a bank note on a R title. You also must consider keeping the truck for a long time to come. A dealer will never accept it on a trade, not to mention interested private party purchaser's. Good luck.

I was pretty skeptical and he was pretty vague with answers so I'm scratching that one off of my list. I appreciate the replies. Going to look at another Titan tomorrow, and (don't flame me) a Frontier.

Thanks again for all of yalls assistance. I picked up a different Titan Saturday, closer and cheaper and couldn't be happier. I'll post details and pics in the introduction section in the next few days.
