Who here has activated their six month trial of the NissanConnect Services? I was just about to, but while reading the Terms and Conditions I came across this and it bothered me a bit...

A. Information Collected and Used by NissanConnect Services. In providing NissanConnect Services to you, we may collect and retain an electronic or other record of certain information including: your Vehicle's description, location, speed, direction of travel, time of travel, service data, mechanical condition or incidents involving your Vehicle, your search content, information about anyone making a NissanConnect Services call from your Vehicle or under your account; the date, time and duration of call and any Response Specialist notes written during a call. You agree that we may record or monitor your Vehicle's location or other information when (1) you or other occupants in your Vehicle request service; (2) your airbag deploys or a severe impact occurs; (3) your Vehicle is equipped to provide Stolen Vehicle Location and you report your Vehicle as stolen; (4) when instructed by a government entity pursuant to a valid court order; (5) as required by applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations; or (6) in connection with our attempts to communicate with you or recover your Vehicle pursuant to agreements governing the lease or financing of your Vehicle. Your Vehicle may also be equipped with one or more sensing or diagnostic modules capable of automatically retrieving, recording, transmitting, or storing certain vehicle data, including but not limited to trouble codes, tire pressure, battery voltage, coolant temperature, and service requirements.

I'm concerned this information could be used AGAINST me in a vehicle collision or by law enforcement (not that I plan on engaging in felonious activity). I realize the NSA is already listening to my conversations, but this has "Big Brother" written all over it.

Does this raise an eyebrow with anyone else...or am I just being overly concerned.

In this day and age, the wrong people could acquire sensitive information from a conversation had in the truck. I don't think the nsa is the issue as much as how this information being stored and for what duration. I'm sure it's not necessarily stored in as secure of a place as you would hope. I find the connect app to be lack luster in every way so if there's a concern, I would pass.

I find little on the subscription services to attract me. The app is ugly and of little use. Not to mention all being overpriced.

Not to add to your concern.. BUT... even without "Connect"
In the event of accident, your car can already help incriminate you.
There is actually a flight data recorded of sorts in your truck.

From the Owners Manual:

This vehicle is equipped with an Event Data Recorder (EDR). The main purpose of an EDR is to record, in certain crash or near crash-like situations, such as an air bag deployment or hitting a road obstacle, data that will assist in understanding how a vehicle’s systems performed. The EDR is designed to record data related to vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short period of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such data as:
● How various systems in your vehicle were operating;
● Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were buckled/fastened;
● How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or brake pedal; and,
● How fast the vehicle was traveling.
● Sounds are not recorded.
These data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes and injuries occur. NOTE: EDR data are recorded by your vehicle only if a nontrivial crash situation occurs; no data are recorded by the EDR under normal driving conditions and no personal data (e.g. name, gender, age and crash location) are recorded. However, other parties, such as law enforcement, could combine the EDR data with the type of personally identifying data routinely acquired during a crash investigation.

To read data recorded by an EDR, special equipment is required and access to the vehicle or the EDR is needed. In addition to the vehicle manufacturer and NISSAN dealer, other parties, such as law enforcement, that have the special equipment, can read the information if they have access to the vehicle or the EDR. EDR data will only be accessed with the consent of the vehicle owner or lessee or as otherwise required or permitted by law.
