I have a KC SE with RF sound. There is a rattle coming from the dash that isn't horrible, but I absolutely hate rattles. The rattle isn't always there, which drives me even more nuts. It tends to do it at highway speeds over concrete roads that a bumpy due to expansion joints most often. It sounds like it's coming from dead center of the dash, around the center speaker. Of course, rattles often sound like they're coming from somewhere other than where they are...

I have to take my Titan in to have the passenger seatbelt looked at anyway. It locks WAY too easily and drives my girlfriend nuts. I want them to fix my rattle, but I know from personal experience what a PITA it is to find a rattle, especially ones that are occasional, and they'll probably just say they can't reproduce the noise. Any opinions? Has anyone else had the rattle and had it successfully stopped?

Oh, and my dash sqeaks occasionally, too. Apparently the plastic around the gauge cluster isn't seated perfectly. I'm definitely mentioning that to the dealer. I read someone else on here heard the same squeak, smacked the dash twice, and hasn't heard it again. I can temporarily stop the squeak by pushing on the plastic surround, too, but it comes back...

I would mention it but only if you are able to duplicate it. Since you know how hard rattles are to locate and repair then ask if someone (preferably the tech who will be working on you truck) go for a ride with you so you can let them hear the exact noises you can hear.

I had almost the same thing. My wife sat in the pass side, and checked all over the dash. NOTHING!

Well the sun came out, so I changed glasses... The noise went away.

My sun glasses were vibrating in the overhead and making the noise!

I think I've got this rattle too, it sounds like a box of cereal is either inside my column or in the ventilation. Itermittent, but very noticeable on the freeway or bumpy roads. Are you going to take yours in soon?

As luck would have it, I can't get it to make the rattle today!!! Pointless for me to bring it in when I know it's not going to make the noise... :(

Hopefully it'll act up again soon if it's going to at all and I'll take it in that day. The dealer's right down the road from my office. I want SOMEONE to hear the noise over there so they don't think I'm nuts... :)

I have the same rattle on the plastic trim over the instrument cluster. I brought it in and the dealer said they fixed it but it came two days later. I have a rattle in the dash also...I believe it is the speaker cover for the small speaker located near the windshield on the passenger side of the truck.

When I first got my Titan I had some whacky dash rattles and squeaks also. I found that most of it was coming from the defroster vent panel that covers the length of the dash just next to the windsheild. I put some felt pads between the panel and the windsheild insulation and made a small rubber shim for the instrument cluster. Noises gone. I actually noticed the defroster vent panel was touching the windshield which made the rattle resonate throughout the panel. Now I only get rattles when on dirt roads. You might want to look there.

Skip,

I found the same rattle in both places. I did the same fix and it works. No big deal really..... the only car I have ever owned that never rattled was my Lexus which I traded in on the Titan.

So I think I may have the same problem I am going to visit the dealer this weekend Mine are there at all times so it should not be to hard to locate and fix them. But hey thanks for the tip.

Silverlust
