OffRoadWarehouse installs a Mid-Travel Kit on a 2017 Nissan Titan Non-XD Pro4x

2017 Nissan Titan Pro4x Non-XD with ALL Options

This Generation 2 Titan leaves all of us Enthusiasts wondering if aftermarket parts with work.

Alot of us can't leave it STOCK and love to Customize our trucks, Thus, Making it Unique and Personalizing it and make it look different than any others.

Purchasing a NEW truck is an Exciting Experience and most people are already thinking.... What's the FIRST aftermarket parts you can get to make it Unique. These trucks are so new that most Vendors or Manufacturers don't have a listing for parts for your 2017+ Nissan Titan. It takes time for these Manufacturers to get a hold of these trucks, design/build a product and then market the parts.

So the question is...

What is available and what will fit??

Off Road Warehouse & Mossy Nissan both Located in San Diego, CA. was given the opportunity to Pull apart this 2017 Nissan Titan Pro4x to END all the questions...

Will it fit??

We contacted Nissan USA and they sent us the CAD Drawings for the Gen 2 and scheduled a fitment check with Dirt King Fabrication who is well known with the Gen 1 Titan suspension. Luckily We had a Gen1 and Gen2 on 2 of our racks with wheels off to compare the differences if any.

Gen2 wheels off..

Method Race Wheels sent over a 17" & 18" wheels for fitment

17" Method Wheels

2008+ Nissan Titan (Gen1) came with 13.8" Rotors and this carried over the the Gen2 Titan.

18" Method Wheels alot more clearance.

Rear Suspension is identical to the Gen1 Titan but with beefier shackles and gusseted lower shock mounts.

The Gen2 is nicely improved and it's safe to say that the frame and suspension pieces have identical to the Gen1.

Back to the Drawing board...

Our Customer wanted the truck Leveled, Wanted it to RIDE well and have more travel than stock.

We turned back to Dirt King Fabrication and decided to go with their Mid-Travel Suspension

This is the ideal suspension system to gain travel and enhance ride quality without increasing track width. Dirt King solved many of the issues found in the factory suspension. They corrected the pivot angles on both the upper and lower arms allowing for more articulation. This kit is capable of 10.5" of travel compared to the stock 7.25" of travel. They improved the shock placement for additional clearance between the axle and the shock on 4wd vehicles. The kit works with factory axles as well. The upper arms use FK stainless steel uniballs and the lower arms come with durable Moog ball joints. Delrin Bushings is used instead of Poly Urethane to limit suspension deflection. This kit is considerably stronger than stock to withstand the abuse seen in off-roading. With this kit you have the option of using limit straps and bump stops. Unlike most companies Dirt King Fabrication takes the time to assemble their kits along with presetting our upper control arms saving you time and money upon install. No cutting or modifications is required. The kit is designed for aftermarket shocks and to be used without a sway bar.

Dirt King Fabrication and Off Road Warehouse is NOW a stocking dealer for their products!

Here's what comes inside the box, Detailed Installation Instructions, Dirt King Stickers, and Nicely wrapped and protected items so that way you get your items without damage.

Had to unwrap something for your viewing pleasure

Pre-install shot

We also chose King Shocks
Front Coilovers & 2.5" Rear both with Compression adjusters

Quick Comparison to stock Bilsteins

While i was taking pics of this stuff stock suspension was coming off...

Quick Tip:

Gen 1 Nissan Titan 4x4 GVWR 7200lbs (2004-2015)
Gen 2 Nissan Titan 4x4 GVWR 7300lbs (2017+)

When I Contacted King Shocks they mentioned that the Gen 2 was a bit heavier on the front end and only found 1.25" to 1.5" of lift when it gave 2.25" - 2" of lift on Gen 1. We adjusted the King Coilover about 1/8" over the factory pre-set from King. If the truck sits too high it's easier to adjust down if needed since you aren't fighting the preload of the springs.

**We highly suggest caution when adjusting these coilovers and use a high quality spring compressor, You want as much as preload off of the spring so that you don't cross thread the shock body.**

Dirt King Billet Tie Rod Ends compared to Stock
This an important piece that needs to be upgraded since the stock tie rod end is good for OEM size wheels and tires. But when you upgrade to a bigger wheel/tire combo more weight. Due to it's size and using a FK Rod ends, steering response is great improved to handle the big wheels. These Tie Rods Feature a machined billet aluminum body with provisions for a wrench for easy adjusting.

Fast Forward to the install.. Uppers and Lowers installed with NO issues fully BOLT-ON!

We did include a set of SPC #87520 Cam Bolts since this truck didn't come with adjustable cam bolts from the factory.

Rears are an EASY install

Driver side

Passenger side

Truck off the Rack, and NOT aligned and sat a bit high.

Truck Aligned and we Chose Method Racing Wheels 18x9 -12 offset on BFGoodrich K02 35x12.50x18

Trimming was needed

We removed a portion of the black fender liner, trimmed where the black sharpie was....

The Mud Flap had to GO! and we trimmed all the way to pinch weld.

Removal of the rear mud flap was only needed for the back.

Before & After:

Off Road Warehouse recommends to check your suspension after 500 Miles after installation to make sure everything is nice and tight!! We offer a full inspection and re-torque the suspension for ALL the vehicles we work on.

Since the truck was basically leveled with just a tad higher in the front we installed a set of N-Fab Nerf Steps #NFAN0477CC

Bottom of truck without steps was 20"

Bottom of steps installed is 13.75"

Great for Wife and Kids to enjoy your truck too!!

Build List:

2017 Nissan Titan Pro4x (non-xd)

Final Drive:

While we were building this White Pro4x. I have access to another 2017 Nissan Titan Pro4x in STOCK form so i can compare the ride quality and drivability for Before and after. Stock Bilsteins ride great and handles very well compared to a Gen1 Titan. This White Pro4x and Dirt King Mid-Travel kit removes the front sway bar so i thought it was going to have alot of suspension sway. We set the tires @ 32psi and it handles well. Well enough for a DAILY driver and hitting your normal speed bumps, dips and uneven road it went straight and didn't track all over the place. Freeway speeds is NO different and the ability to adjust the compression from the King Shocks you can tailor one's driving ability. Stiffer for the street and Softer on the trails. Jumping back into the STOCK Pro4x you can definitely feel the softness of the springs shock valving. King Shocks might be a bit expensive at first as with any other 2.5" Coilover on the market. I can honestly feel the upgrade from 2.0" shock bodies to 2.5" as it makes the truck feel like it should. Having the Mid-Travel kit with the Delrin Bushings prevents any unnecessary feed back from the soft rubber bushings in the stock arms. Increased Handling and steering response of the complete suspension makes for a comfortable ride and it will definitely take the hits when going off road. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me directly via, PM, [email protected] or 800-341-7757

Here is front end pic both truck side by side. Thankfully... I've gotten alot of support with Nissan USA, Dirt King Fabrication, King Shocks and Off Road Warehouse. Which makes this build easy. Also by Having access to our Installation Shop here at ORW makes it easy to test fit parts as we need to. It's safe to say having and owning the Silver Titan i've learned alot about these trucks and the similarities in which they share. Along help of our vendors and manufacturers we have combined one of the first Mid-Travel Suspensions for the Generation 2 Nissan Titan and is here to share with you all the information we have learned.

Here's a Pic of Gen2 (Left) with Mid-Travel & Gen (Right) with Long Travel Dirt King Suspension. Both trucks have their own capabilities but is a good idea how far you are willing you can go with and what look you are going to achieve.

Whats next? Hydro bump stops and limit straps? So much money for 9" of travel. DK says 10.5 but lets be honest.

That truck sits PERFECT.
