Hi all. I have an early '08 Titan with the 2.94 gears. My pinion seal is leaking badly, so I need to get that fixed. I am also contemplating a gear change. At least to the 3.36 ratio. Maybe more. I spoke to Hooper's rear end shop yesterday, and the gentleman said if I change ratios, I will get a check engine light, and will need to figure out how to address that as well. Is this correct? A C/E light after a gear change? For those of you who have done a gear swap, how did you resolve this issue? Also, looking for opinions on what ratio I should go with? I don't tow more than 4000 lbs, but I am running a leveling kit with 305/65/18 tires, and will soon go to 295/70/18's (slightly taller, but waaaaay cheaper than the 305's). The truck does alot of highway driving, so would you leave the 2.94's in it?
Another point, the guy at Hooper's recommended I leave the gears as-is, and just get a programmer to help wake the truck up. Not sure about that one, as I am in CA and need to pass smog.......opinions welcome!
