overload springs

I have an 06 4wd with a 6" procomp stage 2 lift. My rear end seems really stiff and rides like a 3/4 ton truck. Has anyone taken the overload spring out? Does it improve the ride? how much does it lower the truck? I have the mx-6 adjustable shocks in the rear.
