Paint problems-corrotion on white paint

i took my titan to autoway nissan of brandon, fl because i have noticed i have corrotion spots all over my truck ..i have them on the roof on the sides and front bumper. the dialer called the district parts and service manager and he looked over my truck and stated that it is not a paint problem that is affecting the truck, the damage is being caused by enviromental effects...the dialer also asked me if i park my truck near rail roads or airports and i do live way far from that kind of places. so i'd like to know if anyone has had any problems with the white color in any nissan vehicle that appear to have the same problem

I think what your describing sounds like either rail dust from when the truck was shipped or air contaminates, the only way I have found to fix the problem is to clay bar and follow up with waxing the truck.
I think rail dust is over rated. I use my '07 titan (Granite color KC) as a daily driver and my truck sits 75% of the time at a rail yard. I've never noticed any rail dust spots when I wash/wax my truck.

What kind of water do you have for washing your vehicle? (Soft water, hard water, lots of iron/minerals... could be a cause).
you know i dont really have waxed the car yet i might try that the thing is that u cant feel it when you try with your nails it seems thats coming from the paint itself thats what my concern is in the outside it feels smooth like the paint i am gonna try a paint specialist to see if they have seem anything like that before i mean the spots arent really visiable but you can only see them when i wash the truck thank you ..though
I have a 2004 white 4x4. I love the truck but I have been noticing more and more small rust spots on the sides of the truck. I know that people say to use a clay bar to remove the spots but come on it is not even 4 years old yet. If you pay $30,000 plus for a vehicle you would expect it to be at least rust free before it is paid off. I think they have paint issues with at least the white 04's. the question is do you trade it in before it gets worse and makes the trucks value drop more later or roll the dice and use a clay bar and hope for the best.

To the OP, I have a feeling you're not talking about corrosion exactly. The metal can corrode (rust), but the paint can blister, peel, oxidize etc. Is it hard water spots? Do you have pics?

If you have rust spots, then you have chipped paint. A clay bar might remove the rust, but only temporarily. You have to touch up the paint to prevent it from coming back.
Yes I have the same problems my truck looks like it has freckles

I have a 2004 White XE Titan 4x4. This has been going on since day one, it gets detailed, clay barred and it just comes back it seems to be more prevalent in the winter with the road salt.

I am sick of Nissan giving me the run around on this paint defect in fact they refused to log a trouble ticked at the manufactures 800 number when I filed an issue with this last year after being having to go through the whole mess again. And again it is back again this year. It is definitely something in the paint that was applied at the factory it is nothing environmental since my other cars, my neighbors cars would also have the same issue.

The environmental excuse is a cop out from the manufacturer. I purchased my truck in December of 2004, that truck was manufactured in late 2003 so it sat outside someplace at various dealerships for 13 months. When I asked Nissan about that time if the defect or environmental issue could have happened during that period of time I got the cold shoulder from them and basically that is when they told me to go pound sand. I am going to try and pursue this again with them this year.

If you like I can send you pictures

I've same issue on my 2008 white titan, but it is only on tail gate. They looked like chips from small stones from road and then they will rust. Dealer took care of them, haven't seen one since then.
i have red brawn and it has those small white spots on the hood and the front is fading i called nissan and they basically said the same thing to me i have to have it painted again because now the spots are starting to rust on the hood what a pain..
I have a white 2008 Nissan Sentra. The whole car looks chalky. It's been like this for 2 or 3 years now. I reported it to Nissan and they keep skating around the issue. I even bought the extended warranty but they say paints not covered on that. They refuse to address the problem. Therefore I refuse to ever buy crappy Nissan brand vehicle EVER again!

Back from the dead....

Not to sound like an arse but.... Sounds like negligence on the part of the owners.

If your car has been "chalky" for several years now, I would assume that it hasn't been waxed in several years. I have an 05 that has never seen a garage a day in its life and still looks relatively new because it has been washed regularly and waxed annually up until this year since i started a new more time consuming job. And by the way, I live literally one mile from the Cincinnati airport (which is actually in KY) and a major distribution area with thousands of semis (diesel soot) passing my house daily.

As they say the proof is in the puddin.
