Old man backed into my truck. I got a check from his insurance company for $1059.00. Is paintless dent repair an option? Very minor damage. Hard to see from the pics. But, it's there. Anybody ever used PDR and what was the outcome?
Thanks

As long as the paint isn't damaged, paintless dent repair is probably a great option. Take in to one of their shops and they will tell you right away if they can help. On my last car, they were able to remove a door dent that was 4x7x1/2" deep. It took an hour, and they charged me $80.

As you said, it's really hard to tell from the photo where the damage is. PDR can be hit or miss as it really depends on the dents location and the experience of the technician. I've had it done with great results, but I've also seen some really bad jobs. Call some of the higher end dealerships like the BMW, Mercedes dealers and ask who they recommend...

I've used it before. The final result depends on whether the PDR guy is worth a crap or not. I've had it where you'd never know there was anything there. On my last Titan I also had one done by a guy that was horrendous; the guy should have been embarrassed to even ask to be paid.

Check with your local Nissan dealer and see who they use. Dealerships usually have some pretty solid PDR guys that come around.

I never thought that some PDR guys could suck and others could be great. Thanks for the tips! I'll try to find a good one. And if anyone knows of a good one in the phoenix area let me know. I would be grateful.

the PDR tech can be a good body man but horrible at removing interior panels. make sure you get a good detailed look at your interior/exterior before taking it in and after you have the work done.

I know this is not the same, I had a Grand Cherokee that had hail damage took it to a reputable PDR place, the body came out great but they ended up paying me for all the interior panels the F'd up, tears/scratches in door panels, creased headliner just 2 name a couple.

I got hit in the exact same spot. I had the PDR guy take it out. If you look closely you can see where it was but its hard to notice.

Like mentioned, its only as good as the guy doing the repair. I had it done on my hood from a acorn dropping. Results were fantastic ,can't tell it was ever there. The guy mentioned to me it usually takes two good years of field training to be "good" at it.

It looks like PDR should work on that, I had a PDR guy take out a dent on my Titan from a shopping cart behind the rear wheel and you can't even tell it was ever dented. I know my dad had a much worse dent on his Subaru door that he had PDR'd and I'd say its 98% good, you have to look at a certain angle to see anything.

Ha, I had about 100 dents in my roof and hood from a major hailstorm. They tried PDR, and everywhere the "tech" massaged a dent, there was a chip of paint missing. Must've been a newbie. I *****ed and ended up getting it all repainted.
Cheers, Lee S.

I had a PDR guy come to my house before I sold my truck for a couple door dings. I think he fixed about 4-5 dents. He did an amzing job, truck looked brand new again. Then again, he had a lot of experience and owned the company he worked for. When he was younger, they would move into towns that just had bad hailstorms and make a lot of money, then move on. Said he made so much doing that he didn't know what to do with it.

Trying calling your local Mercedes dealer, around here the biggest company called "Dent Wizard" got bought out by Mercedes and you have to go through them to make any appointments, might be the same around you
Almost all car dealers use a PDR guy, some are better then others, I was recommended to a Chevy/Cadillac dealer and I think it was a Dent Wizard.

My trucks currently at the stealership. Their PDR guy said he couldn't fix it because of the damage to the frame behind the molding. We got a rent a car. While the trucks getting repaired. Also having them do the recall (brake pedal, fuel sender,ect...) and some warranty work( rear window trim, washer bottle leak, door panel) while it's there. Also the rear door may have suffered some hinge damage? I don't know? But, i do know i won't be seeing any of the old mans insurance money$$$. The stealership will get it all and more as the adjuster left the hinge damage "open" to an additional claim. Anyway, It's supposed to be done on Friday. I let you guys know how the repair went when i get it back.
