I bought a used 2008 axle for my 2006 truck and added locker to it. Problem is the truck was 4wd and the axle was from a 2WD Titan. I have read through threads that the only difference is the pinion angle, which is determined from the angle of the spring perches relative to the pinion. I am sure mine is now off.

Does anyone have any idea how many degree shim I should get to correct it?

I have 139" wheelbase and axle was also from 139". My truck is lifted roughly 2.5" in front and has a 1" block in the back. I am not experiencing any drivetrain noise, but I have had two rear ends fail on me including this one. Don't think it is related to this issue, but would like to avoid stress on u joints etc. i am pretty hard on it as it is...

I would bet that the difference between the 2wd and 4wd is probably 2 degrees and maybe the 1" lift block is worth 1 degree??? For a total of 3 degrees? Or am I thinking backwards?? Do they offset each other? Confusing...

just the opposite:
I have a custom D60 axle assy in a 2wd truck that has the 4wd perches. the truck sits a little taller in the back so I installed Max trac lowering shackles on the lower hole and has done fine for over 1,000 miles now. I`m not aware of the pinion angle differences between the 2wd & 4wd.

you`ll have to check for vibration unloaded and loaded down to see if what you have affects the truck driveline and go from there.

maybe the spring arch of the 4wd is different. I thought the height difference between the 2 was only from the perches on the axle tubes.

Who built your Dana 60? I have been thinking of going that way.

I just corrected the info in that post...

I bought mine from AZ differential in Phoenix AZ on Weldon.

I live in PHX. What did it cost you? Do you live here? What gears did you choose?

depends on what you want. I have Dana/spicer 3.73`s with Dana /spicer 4 pinion Power lok diff.
the one I have uses Titan axle tubes for the set 80 bearings and abs sensor/tone rings with Titan 32 spline axles.
I also have a truss across the top of the center section for more support. all the brackets are on the axle for a plug n play installation. I`m using a moser engineering support diff cover as well...

call nate and talk price. I had to pay shipping which was hefty to NC.

That is close to what I would do. I have debated 4.10 or 3.73 and both ratios are available for front axle. Want E locker or Air Locker and want to put air locker in front. With a D60 not sure if I need bracing. But couldn't hurt. I am afraid that if I call Nate I'll do it! This rear axle was rebuilt in Feb. I guess I should get the locker and gears for the front and have him do that.

there is a demand for the M226 rear, mine was on CL for a little while, then bam, a guy drove 3.5-4 hrs to come and get it. It was listed here, but well, you know how that goes, especially if it`s more than 1 dollar...:serious:

yeah, not sure the history behind this housing. I know he said he reinforces them now. win win. he has good inventory of used parts to make one... the bearings, diff, gears, etc etc are all new.

So they used titan tubes and axle shafts. So it is a 32 spline D60 carrier?

yes.
there was a large enough price difference between the Currie and what Nate builds. I didn`t need the 35 spline axles of the Currie, didn`t see any brackets on the tubes, their gear sets and diff was more money. requested a quote from Currie and it was over 4k

now If I dragged the truck and had major HP, then I would have chosen the Ford nine inch rear axle from currie. but that`s not what was needed at the time.
