first off is your remote wire installed properly, second can you hear sound coming out of the sub? is your amp grounded?

 

is your sub in a vented box or fiber glass housing? did you make sure the connectors on the sub are actually connected to the sub?

 

Yep they are all fine. All I did was switch head units but I checked all of the connections over again to make sure none came loose. Every wire is connected and in all the way. My sub was working literally with the old unit but as I switched everything except for the sub is working :/

 

ok so what you need to do is go into your sound setting on your head unit and make sure it recognizes there is a sub if it does and is still not working look at your amp and on the housing there should be little dials to turn if there is turn both all the way to the right and see if that produces sound. where are your grounding points?

 

what settings appear on your head unit as far as sound go?

 

The head unit has sub w: norm (there's a off, normal, reverse options). The only 2 dials on my amp are for hpf and LPf and those are maxed out. I really don't understand it being a problem from the connections but rather improper setup on the head unit? Like I said before the sub was working this morning on a cheaper different unit. Should I mess with the hpf lpf dials since my new deck has the ability to change those as well?

 

You have RCA cables running from your HU to amp?

Yep sub -> amp -> hu

 

If nothing else changed behind the HU, I'd make sure the RCA's are in the correct ports in the HU. Also, my Kenwood HU has an option that selects whether or not there is a sub wired in, not sure about the Pioneers though.

check your rca's but i have a feeling your amp isn't pushing the signal to the sub either that or your remote wire or the ground do you have a voltometer? test all connections leading to your amp and then to your sub

 

Yeah, that remote wire can getcha if you're not paying attention. OP: Is the amp lighting up as intended?

to add onto jbowles some amps will light up when there is power but the light indicator changes colors depending on the issue green always means good to go if it turns red it means there is an issue... what is the model of your amp and i can tell you what color that should be

 

That's what I thought too (green or blue good/red bad). I recently found out my component amp is red good. It's not like I was troubleshooting it for 45 minutes before I ever tried it or read the manual. First time I've ever had a "red is GOOD" amp. Lol!

I've always seen my amp light up green. Its a Sony xplode 500w. Right now I just replace both fuses but the amp doesn't seem to be turning on. I had the amp and sub professionally installed a while back but for some reason its not turning on now (no lights after new fuses)

 

ok where are your fuses? i hope one in the power cable and one on the amp right? if im right you need to A( make sure your grounded) B(make sure your not using too small of a fuse it should read anywhere between 25 and 50 on the fuse for your setup) check your power cable on the battery and make sure its not loose or corroded.. check your remote wire(blue) and make sure its screwed down tightly on your amp with a phillips screwdriver and make sure it is ran properly to your HU... the biggest issue at this point is power so in this order power cable to the battery and amp...make sure fuses are proper...check remote wire on amp and HU.

Sorry for the delayed responses, have been very busy

Well pretty much thisguy801 has been insanely helpful, talking with him on the phone and helping me fix the problem. Essentially it was a bad remote wiring problem. The shop that installed my amp/sub setup used the fuse box for the remote wire. I cut that connection and was having trouble distinguishing which blue remote wire i needed to connect to. SO what I did was literally unplug everything and then plug it back in, then tried all 3 remote wires/connections I had. Originally when I tried all 3, the amp would'nt turn on but when unplugging and plugging it back in and rerouting the remote wire directly to the headunit, it worked! Now it's just a matter of finding those sweet HPF and SUb settings and it'll be perfect.

Hopefully this helps anyone searching up on a similiar problem. I cant stress enough how much help Travis was, incredibly helpful guy and reminds me a lot of why I love this community so much

If anyone wants me to expound on the details, I'll be more than happy to, I posted a quick jist of the fix
