Please Help!! Need Power!!

i have read thread after thread trying to find the best solution to my problem and i have finally decided to just post a thread of my own. here's the short and skinny...i had a muffler shop (recommended by a friend) install a custom exhaust. all he did was put a mellotone muffler in there with single 2.5 inch in and dual 2.25 inch out. i thought i would get power but instead i lost it! i mean it sounds good but what good is sound if i cant back it up?! i can barely even spin my tires anymore! power is more important to me than sound. basically, how can i get the most power (mainly torque) out of an exhaust? Where should i go, what should i buy, or what should i do to it? i have a CAI and im willing to change the entire exhaust around again. feel free to throw any other power mod suggestions too as i will likely do something else to my truck in the near future. come on guys...give me power!! thanks in advance.

I believe the fastest titans are running JBA cat back.
"mellotone muffler" What kind specifically? It could kill horsepower as well.

2.5 into the muffler and 2.25 out would not be where you want to restrict exhaust.

The Titan does better with a little backpressure from the y-pipe to the muffler.

It was recommended to me to go 2.25 (without cams) to the muffler of 2.5 with cams.

Now all that being said, I have BFG AT/KO's with Banks exhaust at 3" into the muffler and 4" out of the muffler and I can burn out from a stand still quite nicely...

You may want to try a timing advance!

I have the Magnaflow cat back single out with an AFE Stage ll cai and 2 degree timing advance. Spinning the tires in no problem.

I'm sure the JBA is great too.
if i had to guess that mellotone muffler is where i went wrong. because a friend of a friend owns the muffler shop that put it on that's why i went with it and why i got it so cheap. i know nothing about that muffler except that it was meant for sound. i really appreciate all the feedback yall have already given me!!
oh and where would a good place in general be to get my timing advanced. i have never messed with something like that. and how much (not money..timing)?

It's a 2° timing advance. You can't do it yourself. You either need a dealer with a Consult II or someone with the Uprev Cipher program on a laptop to do it for you.

Check this thread for a member near you.

oh ok appreciate that blackbeauty.
What year is your truck? If it's an '08, you will need to find a dealer with a Consult III. The '04 thru '07 can be done on Consult II or Cipher, but the '08 is not yet supported by Uprev. They will be soon, I'm sure.
