I’m thinking of adding a 5 gallon, portable air tank to the bed of the truck. The primary use would be for airing up after coming off the trail. I am running stock size tires. This is the only thing I’d use the tank for.

Is anyone using a 5 gallon tank and can make some recommendations?
How many refills can I make before I have to refill the tank?

I saw that most tanks are rated to 125 psi however Kobalt makes a tank rated to 185 psi. Should I go to the extra psi?

Why not just get a little compressor? Like from walmart that plugs into the lighter?

I have one for airing the tires up. It works great

I agree with finding a yourself small compressor. I don’t think a 5 gallon tank is big enough to fill your tires the way you might think. My guess 2 tires if your lucky. I used to cart one to the track when I had my mustang. I could only trust it for two tires after a night of racing for a refill for the ride home. Those slicks were way smaller at 26”x10” than a titans stock tires.

I have a small compressor that plugs in but the damn thing takes forever. Maybe I should just look for an onboard compressor! Thank you for the input and sharing experiences though.

So my next question, let’s say I had access to a 10g CO2 tank. From what I have read the power tanks sold at many off-road online vendors can do multiple fill ups? Anyone have experience with those?

Youre probably using some rinky dink compressor and thats why it takes for ever

You need one of these. Its what most the overlanders and what not use. Theyre great and air up tires quick
