I am new to this site but am the original owner of a 2004 Titan 4x4 crew cab with just over 120k miles. I noticed recently that it appears the high pressure line for the power steering is seeping fluid. Has anyone had the same issue? I was thinking about changing it out myself. Has anyone changed this on their own? If so is it difficult/easy or worth taking to a mechanic? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

I just had to replace mine. I noticed a trail of red fluid after backing my trailer into a camping spot. Checked the power steering res. and it was low.

I got the high pressure line off amazon for $70ish I think. I was able to do it in a few hours with pretty basic tools. The only hard part was the bracket that holds the line (and a smaller one) to the crossmember. The bracket is hard to separate and you actually have to bend the metal to get the line out. I did not do any special bleeding or burning when i refilled. Just added small amounts and let the air bubbles come out. then fired it up and slowly turned the wheels and repeatedly check on fluid.

Good Luck

Generally adding a worm clamp on either end fixes the problem. The spring clamps get weak and that's where it starts leaking from. I left my spring clamps in place and added a worm clamp. Problem solved. I would do the same on the transmission lines. So you need 4 worm clamps. Easiest thing to do is just loosen the worm clamp until it comes apart, wrap it in place and put it back together.
