OK here is another blonde question. Hopefully the new Titan owners will not know this question yet. If you get a chip in the front paint is the primer white or black? I saw the smoke gray today and loved it. Mine will be white so I got to wondering how bad chips will look. My Dodge had dark primer and it was also white so every chip showed. Thanks.

Your Right----This is a Question I personally DON'T want answered anytime soon! :jester:

But, in my experience with cars over the years, the primer is going to be a color that is discernable from the final coat. In other words, something that is going to show through in the eventuality of damage etc. Reasons for this being to make sure they got full coverage with the final spray etc in order to alleviate thin paint areas etc.

The actual panals when delivered are Black. As far as during painting process i know primer is grey for dodge. Not for sure on nissan's, but i can find out. I deliver for Dodge, and some of my dealers are Dodge/Nissan dealers. It would be easy too find out if anyone is interested in knowing the exact primer put on. Probably the grey primer usually used though.

Some info on how to check the color once you get your truck. They just had the tailgate apart on mine this morning to replace the back plastic panel (Double sided-tape seperated and 2 clips fell into the gate).

The 8 screws holding the tailgate inside and 2 'pop out' type connectors on the side...lift that piece and there is your primer color.

On the 'Smoke' it is a Lighter shade with a greenish/gold tint to it. Almost like a watered down Canteen Green color.

Thanks for the information. They got a beautiful smoke gray one in but I am just going to go ahead and wait for my white one. They said it is suppose to be here the 18th but the rail people can't find the VIN. It was on the rail on the 11th so I would think the number would come up but nadda! Who knows. I just have to keep my fingers crossed for now. Will let you all know.
