Hey guys, so last night after work I decided to do the famous PWM. I had slight rubbing and it was just a matter of time to do it. So I did, easy although I think I cut a little too much off the passenger side...I was using a sawzall and didn't realize how deep I had cut. Could this be a potential problem? Water intrusion into the cab/firewall? I definitely solved my rubbing issue! haha I posted a few pics. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks! Stone tool Hand Finger Artifact Mineral

whats the fender look like?

few guys have gone back and re welded it...by few i mean like one or two. most, like myself left it alone and don't have any issues. You being in the salt and whatnot during the winters might wanna make sure you get a good coat of paint at the minimum on that. I would do brush on bedliner or something that will really stay on that metal.

my tires still rub and constantly sand that metal smooth so rust isn't an issue lolz

haha I definitely have no more rubbing which is a good thing, I don't have pics of the fender as it was getting dark and I wanted to finish up. I know some have at least painted the fresh cut, I am concerned I cut too deep!? You can see in the one pic I cut into another section. At least it appears that way. Not sure if anyone else has run into this issue and knows more if I may have a problem down the line?

Get some JB weld and slap it on there, then paint the whole thing.

Thanks guys, I understand the rust issues with out coating it with something. I'm concerned that I cut in to deep? Can anyone tell by looking at piece I cut off?

It appears you cut into the joint at the base of the fender. A picture of the fender itself would be a huge help in understanding whether you cut too deep or not. If you did, you may be looking at having someone weld up the hole or some such. That'll be a pain in the rear. Hard to tell what you "cut into" where that one pic shows the two pieces flaring away from one another. A pic of this area on the truck will tell a whole lot more.

OK ya I'll have to rip out the plastic liner and get a better look. Luckily where I work there are probably 50 welders on any given day! Getting someone to weld it up shouldn't be a problem. I'll post a pic when I get back in there. Hopefully guys can learn from it...lol

Make sure you disconnect your battery before welding.
