Has anyone ever had an issue with mud getting packed into the altenator? I took my '07 CC Off-Road series out thru some mud to test my new Interco Trxus tires and my truck died 2 days later and left me stranded. Thing is I wasn't that extreme as I didn't take it out of 2WD and the dealershp said it was packed solid.

Interesting. Add on question: What would be the safest way to remove any possible mud from an alternator? With the truck off could you spray some brake cleaner into it maybe? I'm sure high-pressure water wouldn't be the best idea...

I am not to sure what could be done to clean it out...I have never had an alternator end up full of mud. I am going to investigate how it could have happened and if a shroud of some type can be found. Has no one else had this issue before? How deep have the off-roaders had their Titans before?

I've gotten my truck with 4" of water inside the cab and just a slinging mud everywhere and didnt have that problem. I did notice however that my air filter got trashed because it draws air from the fender well, while in reverse the tires will throw crap right up behind the fender lining straight to the intake. 54Warrior fabbed a nice sheild outta some stainless that I'm going to attempt myself one day.
sorry about your luck with the alternator, you must have been flying thru the muck to cake that up.

I wasn't that deep, maybe up to my axles. It was shallow enough that 4x4 wasn't even thought of. It was watery clay but i only went thru it a few times. This was also my first time getting dirty.

Thanks for the heads up on the air filter and driving in reverse while mudding
