Today I went to make a u-turn and my truck didn't want to turn. Pulled off on the side of the road and noticed the rack and pinion was pissing fluid all over. None of the connections were leaking and from just briefly looking at it, it looks like the body of the rack and pinion is coming apart. Before I dump $500 on a rebuilt unit has anybody come across an affordable upgrade to the stock unit?

The same thing happened to me. And I was busting a U-turn also. Yours split in half just like mine did.

I didn't find a better replacement, but I get mine here for cheap.

Mine did the same thing.. weak part on the truck if you ask me.. picked up a used one for $125 from the site listed in this topic by pgthe1. Nissan wanted somewhere over $2k installed. I laughed
