My 04 titan stereo has always had horrible fm reception.
Now the CD changer is not working all the time. I have some pictures, can someone confirm that this is just the basic bottom of the line stereo?
I would like to replace it with a decent stereo that I can use the original speakers with. I would also like to have the option of putting a sub in later down the road. I have my dash out (replacing a actuator) I'm think of replacing those speakers. but leaving the one in the doors alone (upgrade later). So basically I want a decent stereo that will play a CD that has room for expansion later. I have seen several threads debating all kinds of technical terms that is over my head. I need to keep it simple. Any recommendations???
Thanks!

It's either the mid line or Rockford system we need A picture of the front radio bezel/faceplate. Also look under the driver seat and see if there's a big black plastic enclosure with 8 inch woofer. If there is it's The Rockford system

I have gone through a ton of radio threads on this site and the internet.
I have looked at ton of stereos
It appears it comes down to Pioneer or Kenwood.
Kenwood
ddx-318
kd-50bt
kdc-x500
ddx373bt
dnx-9960
Pioneer
DEH-x9500bhs
DEH-x4800BT
DEH-150mp
avh-900bt
avh-4400bh
avh-700bt
avh-p8400bh
avh-3400bh
avh-p34000
deh-x3800s
mvh-x370bt

I have a android so all the ipod stuff does nothing for me.
I want to play discs
I want to use my steering wheel controls
I want to be able to upgrade the speakers ( tech12v) later
I want to be able to add a amp for all speakers and a sub later(Tech12V)
Bluetooth is cool but not mandatory.
Is anyone using these stereos??

Problems Gassing Up!

I've seen a few OLD posts about problems gassing up ... and obviously Nissan still has not fixed this problem? Is it not a manufacturer defect or is it something that eventually happens after a few years of use?

I've recently purchased a pre-owned 2012 Nissan Titan and am so far a happy camper, with the exception of having to gas up! I've gassed up at two different stations and have experienced the SAME problem - gas won't flow! I can't auto-fill, because the gas won't flow, so I have to do it manually, and I have tried holding the pump at a few different angles, even tried not fully pushing the pump all the way in and nothing! So I am manually filling up, pushing the lever ever so slightly so the gas will actually flow and it takes about 1/2 an hour to fill up! WTF! And the first time I gassed up, I stopped paying attention (stopped looking at the actual tank) and the gas overflowed!!!

I am going to take it back to the dealer to have them take a look and fix the problem but I'd love some feedback from my fellow Titan owners before I go!

(And advance apologies, because I am submitting a new post via a REPLY to another post, but I'm new here and have not yet figured out HOW TO post a NEW item, without having to REPLY to an existing post! Peace!)

Haha a quick search ( couple of hours of reading) yielded me the above list.
It appears that Tech12Volt carries the Kenwood Excelon Line.
That would narrow it down to 5 single din and 2 Double din.
I could care less about Navigation. So that takes care of the double din unless someone would care to tell me different.
Is there anyone out there who is using a KDC x300,x500,x700,x898 or x998 that is happy or unhappy???

Thanks

My stereo in my 05 went out in the first couple years, I can't believe an 04 still has the original stereo. Maybe I'm not the norm, do any older titans still have OEM stereo? Definitely go with the double din with a back up camera. That's my next purchase if I can spare the money.

I hate pioneer. Power wire is to small on them and you can heat the internal amp starving for power.
Good non touch screen. Clarion U.S.A | CX305
That's an interesting bit of info. I am not well versed in any of this sort of stuff, beyond being able to install it with the right kit/harness. But I may buy my son a Titan, as I've found a low mileage 04 in good shape for a fair price. Have to go look at it late this week. The related question to this thread is, what do you recommend in terms of double-din touch screen which is functional with a backup camera, works with the factory RF speakers (and maybe the amp?) and won't break the bank? Nav is not needed, as he has good voice guidance on his phone via two apps (one offline), but he'd want good sound quality across the spectrum (not just bass), intuitive control, good functionality of the radio and Bluetooth from his phone, and quality construction. Does such an animal exist in the "under $300" price range? How about under $400? Or, on the really crazy end, how about under $250?

thank you "Pickle-Smooth", I did do a search on the subject before posting but they were years old! I saw some where people said if you hold the nozzle a certain way they were able to gas up fine, but neither works for me! I am still standing at the pump for almost 1/2 hour to fill up, while my hand is cramping! I was just wondering why this condition continues to exist? If enough owners have experienced this issue, would Nissan not make sure it doesn't not occur anymore? I've never experienced this before with any other vehicle I've owned, this is my first Nissan. From what it sounds like though it is not a major catastrophe, and easily fixed, of course, I have no clue on HOW TO. Taking it back to the dealer so they can fix. I do appreciate the reply!

You do realize, MetalQueen, you're posting your question in the middle of a thread about a radio issue where a CD changer has stopped working? Since you're new and maybe don't know better, the better option would have been to either start your own new thread under the topic of fueling problems or something descriptive, so folks who know about the issue and can help you solve it have a better chance of seeing the thread, or do a search of the forum (upper right corner of your screen) and see if anyone else has had the problem, or a similar problem, and how they may have fixed it.

Don't take this as a flame, just some help in figuring out how to navigate the forums. What you did is called "thread-jacking" and is considered impolite by most forum communities. Titantalk is a pretty good bunch of guys, so make yourself at home, and follow along with the simple rules, and you'll be a regular in no time! Glad you found the place and glad you found some advice for your issue.

I was looking at new head units when I added an amp and speakers, but decided to just use the stock RF head unit which works great with an aftermarket amp. My research lead me to Kenwood as the head unit to go with. Clarion is very good too, but Kenwood won for me. Just my $0.02....
