There has been a lot of talk on the board about the poor volume and reception with the radio. Another subject is the AUX input being even lower than the radio.

Please call nissan: 1800Nissan1

Voice your concern. This is the only way we can get the engineers to look at the problem and fix it.

My observations:
CD excellent
AM/FM 1/2 of CD volume and reception is fair to poor.
AUX 1/4 of CD volume and I had the MP3 player all the way up!

yes please everyone call nissan and tell them our radio reception sucks. i think that our complaints in numbers will help. they have a titan specialist named steve, if you cann talk to him that would be excellent. i have complained so much that my dealer has agreed to install xm at cost. if i had known that it was this bad it would not have came off the lot without it free. everyone please call nissan :gunz:

Are you having problems with the Rockford Fosgate or the Nissan 6 Disc System? I have the Nissan system and it works great.

I'll check my radio closer I have only used a couple of times. I mostly listen to CD's. If I notice a problem with the radio I will call so they will give it some attention. If anyone is still having problems with the power seat please call that in also so it can get some attention from the Nissan Engr. Dept.

I haven't noticed any problems with the RF radio reception yet but I will listen more closely in the future. If I do notice a problem, I will make the call immediately.

radio

I called last week and they said it was the first call they received about it. They seem to be open to investigating it, if it is affecting enough people.

could there be different tuners in different trim packages???????? that would really make me . when i am at my dealer which is within 15 miles of the radio station reception is fine but when i travel to where i live its terrible but i did get a rental altima and the reception in that was good compared to the titan. overall i just think its unacceptable. mmaybe im wrong :wtfdunno:

My RF radio reception is better than any of the systems that I have had in the past in a truck. I haven't noticed it being any worse than the Bose in my 02 Maxima. I will check that closer though.

On the last call in to update my case file, it was reported that this was not the first they had heard of it.

Keep the calls going in. They will have to talk to RF about this!

When I first test drove a Titan in Greenville Texas a pretty big town I had trouble getting a radio station let alone one that sang in English and wondered at the time if it was just the location since I live 100 miles away.

Since then I have noticed and don't know if it is just in my head but you can be driving and the (Radio) will sound as if adjusting surround modes sometimes hearing more vocal and less background etc. I do think the CD sound is great but there is something missing on the Radio sound that I can't quite put my finger on. It may just be the different radio stations signals but I have never had this happen on any other vehicles that I have owned. I have the RF package and hoped the radio itself would sound better and at times it does don't ask me to explain... I even looked for loose radio antenna connection as has been mentioned either on this board or another.

Possible Radio Fix

I had/have the same problem with my RF radio reception fading in and out. :crying:

It sounded like it may be an attenna problem so I took a close look at mine.

Guess what????

The darn thing was not screwed down all the way but had 3 or 4 threads showing and a small amount of rust starting to form on the exposed threads. :coolsmile

I cleaned up the treads, put on a little WD-40 and screwed that sucker all the way down like it should have been at the factory. :boxing:

My radio reception appears to be much improved but I haven't given it the acid test yet (long distance drive).

Hopefully others may find this is the solution to their problem(s).

I have found a few things on the Titan where they were not installed correctly/all the way like plastic panels, leather door trim and a door seal. I have been able to fix most myself but the leather trim and door seal went to the dealer for inspection and guess who is now waiting for the replacement parts?

No biggie compared to what's right with the Titan!!!

I'm assuming the antenna plugs in somewhere behind the dash bezel. My RF seems fine, but for those who want to check it, maybe you can offer some tips on how to get the thing open?

And where would the world be without WD40 and Duct Tape?

What area of the vehicle did you find that the antenna was not tightened all the way (behind firewall, dash, etc.)?

Good for you, hopefully that did it!

Thanks,
Karl

I was at the Nissan dealer today talking to the sales manager about the Titan and I told him about this board. He asked me what faults people are finding with the truck and I mentioned the poor RF reception. He said it was a known problem and that they (Nissan, not the dealership) are looking into a reception booster for the antenna. He could be F.O.S., however.... :dunno:

At the front fender, the outside antenna. Probably not the factory but dealer set up?

I just took a test drive and I was receiving a signal loud and clear from a station about 40 miles away and on the other side of the hill. It seems to be working.

I hope it's that simple for all of us!

I have the RF on my Frontier. It is the same situation as the Titan. CD rocks, but radio is average. It's not just a Titan problem. Someone in my truck club said it's not hooked up right and there is a way to fix it but it involves buying something (stereo equipment like an amp or cross over or something) and running the radio signal through it. Can't remember what it was, I was only half listening when he said it. It fits under his passenger seat.
