Well I was just reading throught the doc that was posted earlier today and noted the following:

Audio System
• Mid- and premium-grade head units are new.
• Audio system shares the same display with the Navigation System and HVAC.
• Mid-grade AM/FM/CD-6 in-dash with 8 speakers.
• Premium-grade Bose AM/FM/CD-6 in dash with 10 speakers and subwoofer.
• The vehicle is pre-wired for satellite radio.
• Armada uses a Diversity antenna for enhanced reception performance.
– One on the drivers side rear window
– One on the passenger side rear window
All Titan models come with a mast-type antenna.
– These antennas have been specifically-designed for optimum reception on this particular vehicle, and use an antenna signal booster located at the upper C-pillar
.

• A front auxiliary input jack for headphones and remote CD is located below the climate
controls.

This may be the cause for the 'weak reception' problems on the upgraded system. Not sure if it has anything to do with the RF system problem.

I saw that as well and was wondering why the booster is in the "C" pillar and also why the two vehicles have different systems. It would be nice to hear from some Armada owners and find out if they are having the same problems.

RF is fine in my truck

I do have a very recent MFG'd (Late JAN)truck but the Rockford Radio reception is extremly good. It is better than my wifes 2003 Expedition and my 1999 Range Rover. I have no complaints about reception. It actually picks up far more stations than most vehicles we have delt with. I do however think the sub under the seat is a bit sloppy...Of course I may be a bit picky. Overall I am pleased with the RF system. The XM add on was very easy to install and works great also. Aux input is reasonble with a slight signal reduction causing one to have to turn up volume while using Aux.

Bill,

Could you post some pics of the antenna for XM? Inside and out? Just curious what it looks like mounted on the window. I plan to add this as well.

If it is a Nissan sat setup then the antenna should be mounted on the roof!!
Nissan does not have sat radio with a window mounted antenna!!

The instructions for the kit clearly show it is mounted on the rear window on the driver's side.

I have XM on my Tundra, and the antenna is on the roof. Very inconspicuous. That's why I want to see what the window mount looks like.

BTW, what's your price on the XM kit for the tundra (tuner, bracket and antenna). What would turnaround time be? This is one thing I plan on getting from the "lowest bidder".. lol

Just saw your page, glad it's back up! Nice price on XM and the front hood deflector.. I will most likely be getting both!

Still interested in turnaround time... do you stock the parts or are they drop shipped from Nissan, or do you order from nissan then ship them?

Also, does the XM kit come with bracket and antenna?

xm antenna is on window

Actually the XM antenna is made by Antenna Specialist for Nissan. It is not the standard roof mount antenna for XM it is a window mount with a small mast. It works very well and has a beffy look to match the truck. Will take pics Friday.

Thats weird, because Nissan does not offer Sat radio for the 350Z Roadster because they do not have a windshield mounted antenna. According to Nissan the problem is that the antenna that they use needs to be grounded to the car, so the windshield mounted antenna would not work!! Maybe they do not have one that looks good for the front windshield?? anyway, the price on my site is for all the parts needed for installation. There is actually 3 part numbers, but that is the total!! I do not stock them ,but it should only take a coupe of days for ME to get it then I can ship it to you UPS ground.

I just returned from the dealer. My friend (Nissan Tech) called the radio problem into the techline. They stated that they are aware of the problem, but unfortunately at this time have no fix for it. They stated that they are working on the problem but dont know when they will have a fix. Their first thought was that it was an antenna problem but have ruled that out. My thought is that it is a ground problem or a tuner problem.

Thought you all would like to know if you didnt all ready.

Thanks Jeeptug, I got a call from a Nissan rep today asking if I had any problems and I informed them about the radio as well as my rear seat belt which for some reason has started working properly. They noted the radio problem and told me I would have a J.D. Powers survey coming in soon. I would really like that radio fixed before doing any more positive surveys.

Glad to (HEAR) that I'm not just imagining this sound or that it's not JUST me. Sorry, but if it were only me I would not feel to good about gettin the sucker fixed.

All call 1-800-Nissan 1 and report the problem. This will drive you nuts!! I have to just listen to the engine sometimes to break up the MONO!

I would suggest CD listeners to listen to their radios for a while and make sure you have no problem.

Alright gang, here is some good news!

I received a call from my contact at Nissan yesterday regarding the reception problem in the RF radios.

He told me to take it in to the dealer and have the service tech call into Nissan directly and find out how to fix the problem.

They do have a fix! It requires the dealer to service the radio but he didn't know exactly what needed to be done, and it is completely covered under all warranties.

I plan to do this once I get back from my road trip to Florida at the end of the month. Going to have to do an oil change and tire rotation at that point so might as well get it all done at the same time.
