Radio Reception...info from Doc posted earlier

Well I was just reading throught the doc that was posted earlier today and noted the following:

Audio System
• Mid- and premium-grade head units are new.
• Audio system shares the same display with the Navigation System and HVAC.
• Mid-grade AM/FM/CD-6 in-dash with 8 speakers.
• Premium-grade Bose AM/FM/CD-6 in dash with 10 speakers and subwoofer.
• The vehicle is pre-wired for satellite radio.
• Armada uses a Diversity antenna for enhanced reception performance.
– One on the drivers side rear window
– One on the passenger side rear window
All Titan models come with a mast-type antenna.
– These antennas have been specifically-designed for optimum reception on this particular vehicle, and use an antenna signal booster located at the upper C-pillar
.

• A front auxiliary input jack for headphones and remote CD is located below the climate
controls.

This may be the cause for the 'weak reception' problems on the upgraded system. Not sure if it has anything to do with the RF system problem.

Alright gang, here is some good news!

I received a call from my contact at Nissan yesterday regarding the reception problem in the RF radios.

He told me to take it in to the dealer and have the service tech call into Nissan directly and find out how to fix the problem.

They do have a fix! It requires the dealer to service the radio but he didn't know exactly what needed to be done, and it is completely covered under all warranties.

I plan to do this once I get back from my road trip to Florida at the end of the month. Going to have to do an oil change and tire rotation at that point so might as well get it all done at the same time.
GREAT NEWS!!!! I hope the fix will take care of my problem! I called Nissan again yesterday and they said they were still working on a fix but would call me when they had one. I hope this is true! So atleast now we all could injoy our stereo's!!
I wonder how accurate that it? I was on the Techline yesterday afternoon and at that point they had no idea what the problem was. The service dept said at first that it must be a bad tuner and that they would swap it out. I told them they were not going to tear into my dash until the problem was absolutly pinpointed. At that point they called the Techline. I was in the room on speaker phone listening. They said they are working on it but no fix was available. I would be really interested in knowing what the fix that your dealer is going to do. A lot of times dealer service depts will just start swapping components to give you that warm and fuzzy feeling that they are doing something and to let the front office know they are doing everything they can.

Once your vehicle rolls out the door after the sale everything that happens after that is the service depts fault. That is how the managment of dealers think. So the service dept will do what ever they can to keep you from going to the sales dept to complain about a problem.

post up when they tell you what they are going to do.

Amen, jeeptug! I don't want anybody tearing into my dash as well and then there may be other problems (rattle etc.) to worry about. If so many of these "Tuners' are bad there has to be a better answer than to just "try another one till it works" Unless they have narrowed it down to an earlier production problem and have the (bug) outta there. I may print out these post and carry them to the dealer to show them I'm not just imagining things!
Keep us informed how the fix goes. Mine has the fading in and out barrel problem. It seems to stay on the channels fine.
here's exactly how mine sounds:

driving down the road singing along and BAMM!!! it's like someone turned down the treble all of a sudden. only when the radio is on, but when i am playing a cd it doesn't seem to have a problem. my model is the one with the RF with the 6 disc cd changer in it and the 8 speaker system.
RF 6 CD here also. :crying:

WELL... Welcome to our club. I've been complanning about this sence I've had my truck back on Feb 10th. I feel for you! The Stereo SUCKS! I can't even listen to mine it makes me so mad and frustrated! For me the sooner they fix this the better! :crying:
I do not have the RF and mine does the same thing. I don't think the RF has anything to do with it. CD is awesome. We need a fix!!
Seen it several times static, but Wow! that is a good looking truck!

Just wish the radio matched.
I too understand the problem is kinda nerve racking.... but keep in mind, THIS IS A COMPLETELY NEW TRUCK!

Almost everything had to be engineered from nothingness,

plus, Im very confident that Nissan did NOT engineer the radio, as with most of thier audio is made from Clarion and occasionally BOSE.

You have to understand, we are kinda guinnea pigs, the first batch, etc. EVERY new car/model has something its first couple years.

Having radio reception is great, dont get me wrong.... but there are MUCH bigger problems, like having engine problems, or anything major than that.

(Sorry, I just had to rant, as I have Nazi 350Z customers :futwice: .... who expect rediculous perfection and cant understand why nissan didnt illuminate the window switch lock button! :boxing: -a day in the life of a Nissan Tech)

BTW, I also have the same prob on my KK off-road with the 6 disk. Nissan is shipping me some jumper cables to the amp and hte antenna. I'll let you guys know how it goes after the install

Thanks for your info.
And I agree with you! We have to expect some of these kind of thing's! The radio is my only dissapointment with my truck! At the start of this problem, NISSAN wasn't very pro active on this! I'm glad finally that they did listen to us that CALLED! This in no way would Stop me from buying another Titan down the line! This is a great truck! That could be a perfect truck if they fix the few proplem area's! I also can't wait to here if this fix your talking about WORK'S! I hope it dose! :)
