My radio settings (bass, treble, etc.) sound a lot different between the FM and then when I play a CD. The bass when the CD plays is real loud, but when I switch to FM, the bass is barely there. I checked and there is only one setting for all modes. Anyone else have this problem? Any ways to fix?

radio stations cut off the low end frequencies and high end frequencies to conserve bandwidth for broadcasting kind of like music compression software like MP3, etc. I think they only broadcast music in between like 180 Hz and 12,000 Hz.

All the Nissans I've owned, None had the greatest FM sound...certainly not CD quality. Don't see how anyones headunit, of ANY make, can reproduce CD sound.
Mine is the same way....loud and bassy on CD, tinny on FM.

Maybe they saved a buck$$$$$ on the radio part of the unit thinking most will use CD and XM radio??????? I do not like the difference.

Most of the sound difference you are talking about is a result of signal to noise ratio. Cd's,sattelite, and high def. radio send a digital signal which is cleaner and reproduced in a much more true sound. FM signals are broadcast and varry in strength, add to that the quality of the receiver you are using and that can make all the difference in sound. I don't know what the FM sensitivity for the OEM unit is... but it will never be as good as a digital source.
