To help me and others get a better feel for the fight you might have to go through to get the situation resolved, how close is your truck to the max VIN number specified in the TSB? What was your build date? What are your symptoms, and how is the best way to reproduce the problem for your issue?

I don't want to sound like a S.O.B. on an inquisition, but I sincerely would like to know a bit more about your situation, and how close you are to the borderline to where others might have problems. I have seen other threads on this site where items were switched between vehicles on the lot by the dealers, and I wonder if this might be a case of that.

My opinion is that if you to pop the 4 corner pieces of your dash radio panel to check the labels of the stereo, this WILL NOT void your warranty, because you are neither adding nor removing objects that will positively or negatively affect the factory performance of the radio or anything else in the dash. It's kind of like removing the bolt on the transmission oil dipstick. It was installed by the factory. My salesman told me that to check the level myself, that I have to remove that bolt, check the level, reinstall that bolt. If I see that there's a problem with the level, then see the dealer.

Be careful, however, because all the controls for the radio, AC, and the airbag light are mounted directly to that panel, and they are attached to wires running back from there.

FYI and by the way, I also have a 4x2, #N#AA##A##N###### are the characters in my vin. I took my truck in to the dealer today for analysis of the issue (which I knew I had) and they did order my new radio.

EDIT: Another thought on this, Nissan should have "*" the body type(KC-CC) and GVWR(4x2-4x4) column of the TSB that they have issued.

My thought on this is that either --

(A) the dealer looked at the VIN breakdown and realized that it was a stupid dividing line when the chassi serial# was qualified, or

(B) as posted in another active thread today, the dealer evaluated the full VIN, and went by the "letter of the nissan law" and denied replacement because if the unit was replaced and it wasn't explicitly covered by the VIN in the published TSB, then they would have to eat the cost, regardless of whether or not they confirmed the sould quality issue.

Another hypothetical look at it....

I have a computer background, and one way that the verbage of the TSB can be interpreted, as it says, "Titan Built Before: 1N6AA07A(*)....." could be interpreted by people who have had some computer training as...

6a
- valid, 6 is less than 7 (KC, 4x2)
6b - valid, 6 is still less than 7 (KC, 4x4) -- "4x4, but with the 6 as the first number, it must still be built before the 7"
7a - valid, exact match (CC, 4x2)
7b - not valid, 7a(from the tsb) < 7b (CC, 4x4) -- "your VIN is greater than the max covered"

I'm still working on getting the problem resolved, my service manager wont be back in until monday. Oh and JAOHN, I just dont feel comfortable sending my V.I.N. to someone I dont know, sorry.
No problems here, just tell let me know if the last 6 digits are less than 536350, which is a rounded-off-number-near-my-VIN, but that number before my build date, which was half a month later than your build date.
