I keep my titan in the garage and just learned rats took up housing in there and chewed up the windsield washer hose on both car and truck. Immediately adjacent to the WW hose is the air box where it attaches to the fender. It has a black sponge rubber gasket between the fender and the air box outlet; don't know if this is a filter or not? I can get a picture and attach it later today.
My question is this:
how important is this gasket - filter?
I took the truck to the agency and was told it's no big deal, don't worry about it? They replaced the hoses and wrapped a few places the rats had chewed on the wires with electrical tape, but they chose not to replace the foam rubber gasket between the filter and fender?
Any thoughts, ideas appreciated.

Not a biggie... The gasket just help's it seal against the fender. It will still pull in air just the same. Sneaky little varmint's!!!
